Does Max Have a Free Trial?

The answer is complicated, but I did the research and found out where to get a Max free trial so you can stream your favorite shows for free.

How do I watch Max for free?

Whether you want to try out a new show or catch a March Madness game, free trials can always come through in a pinch. Max hasn’t been the new kid on the block for a while, so it’s no longer directly offering free trials to entice new customers to sign up.

But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to get a free trial for Max. Although Max is stingier than it used to be when it comes to free trials, I dug into Max’s fine print and best deals to discover how to save on Max’s pricey plans. Keep on reading to find out our favorite ways to try out Max without shelling out a few bucks.

Bundle Max with your TV or internet subscription

TV and internet providers regularly throw in streaming subscription freebies for new customers, and Max is no exception. For instance, DIRECTV and DIRECTV STREAM (as of this writing) are offering three free months of Max and other streamers when you sign up for a qualifying TV plan.

As CableTV.com’s Internet Editor, I love digging for these types of free subscription deals. Internet and TV providers frequently roll out the red carpet to draw new subscribers, and I’m always a fan of people getting deals like free $300 gift cards and Max subscriptions, like this one from Spectrum.

Providers are constantly rotating their internet deals, but you might be able to knock two birds out with one stone if you’re shopping for cheaper internet or TV alongside a Max deal. Check out our full Max deals page (my teammate Logan updates it monthly) for the latest Max freebies.

Get a free Max trial through Amazon Prime or Hulu (when available)

Streamers like Prime Video and Hulu also double as hubs for competing streaming services like Max. You can add a Max subscription to your primary subscription (Prime Video and Hulu also have free trials in case you’re interested) straight through the Prime Video or Hulu apps. (I’m generally on board with this app consolidation, which makes it easier to watch shows without switching between 14 different services.)

Both apps regularly offer a Max free trial, but the streamer has dialed them back in recent months. Max tends to only wheel out this deal to coincide with major premieres like a new season of The Last of Us or The White Lotus.

How long is Max’s free trial?

Max’s free trial deal through Hulu or Prime Video usually ends after seven days before you’ll get charged for a full month of service.

Here’s what you’ll need to do in both apps to get a free Max trial when it’s available.

Prime Video free Max trial

1. Go to Subscriptions in Prime Video.
