We’re in the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ now (again)

Remember “Avengers: Endgame?” The three-hour long epic brought eleven years of Marvel storylines to a close back in 2019. But it turns out that the word “end” is relative.

To get audiences excited for the next big Avengers film, “Avengers: Doomsday,” Marvel is re-releasing “Endgame” in theaters this September. And that’s not all—like an undead monster, it’s not coming back quite the same. This version includes brand-new scenes, exclusive to the re-release theatrical cut. It’s not clear whether these new scenes will eventually make their way to streaming.

Catch ‘Endgame’ in theaters this September

Marvel is bringing “Avengers: Endgame” back to theaters for a limited time starting September 25, 2026. This re-release will feature new, exclusive scenes, beefing up an already long runtime.

“Avengers: Endgame” will be the first Marvel movie to be shown in Infinity Vision, what Disney calls “a new certification for premium large format theaters designed to signify to audiences the biggest, brightest, and most immersive cinematic experiences.”

We’ve yet to see if this new format is just hype to get audiences back in theaters, or whether it marks a significantly better movie-watching experience. But you might not get to find out: The Infinity Vision certification only applies to 75 screens across the U.S. The rest of us will just have to enjoy the extra scenes from our run-of-the-mill local shopping mall theaters.

As of writing, it does not appear that theaters are selling tickets yet, but this will change as we get closer to September.

Countdown to ‘Doomsday’

While Disney did tease the “Avengers: Doomsday” trailer to CinemaCon attendees yesterday afternoon, it hasn’t officially released it to the public. The full movie comes out on December 18, 2026, so there’s still plenty of time to build up excitement.

In the meantime, fans can have fun listening to the ominous ticking of Marvel’s own Doomsday Clock, included below. At least, that’s assuming Marvel’s YouTube channel will leave it running for the next eight months. It seems like a pretty big commitment.
