‘Coyote vs. ACME’ Trailer: The Movie David Zaslav Doesn’t Want You To See

One legal battle ends, another begins

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has made a lot of questionable decisions under CEO David Zaslav: ditching Cartoon Network, rebranding HBO Max, selling to Paramount Global.

So it’s fitting that, as Zaslav makes his $500 million exit from WBD, an independent distribution company is rectifying one of his most controversial mistakes. Zaslav’s WBD killed the live-action/animated hybrid film ‘Coyote vs. ACME’ back in 2023, using it as a tax write-off when it was already pretty much completed. The film was almost deleted and lost forever, but was eventually rescued by independent distributor Ketchup Entertainment, who also released ‘The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie’ under similar circumstances.

That’s why it’s so ironic that the film, which is finally coming to theaters later this year, is about a wronged cartoon character taking on a negligent corporation in court. Maybe Zaslav killed the film because he saw too much of himself in ACME’s CEO (played by John Cena).

‘Coyote vs. ACME’ release date

‘Coyote vs. ACME’ is coming to theaters on August 28. 2026. That’s right, it’s actually coming to theaters instead of getting dumped directly onto HBO Max. A novelty in 2026, especially for a film that almost didn’t see the light of day!

The film follows Wile E. Coyote, the Roadrunner’s infamous nemesis, who sues the ACME corporation with the help of a passionate lawyer (Will Forte). But ACME would rather resort to nefarious means rather than admit their products are faulty, so intense cartoon antics ensue.
