This Fantasy Series Is Finally Getting an Anime, and You Can Watch It Early

A world of witches and magic
If you’re a fan of fantasy manga, you might be familiar with “Witch Hat Atelier.” It’s a very popular story about an apprentice witch in a world where rune-based magic is a carefully guarded secret, practiced only by witches who wear distinctive pointy hats.
The original manga started publication in 2016, and the anime adaptation was actually supposed to come out in 2025. However, production delays pushed that date to 2026, and now the long-anticipated “Witch Hat Atelier” adaptation is finally coming out this April.
Let’s talk about the “Witch Hat Atelier” premiere date—and how you might be able to watch it early (if you’re near Seattle).
When is the “Witch Hat Atelier” premiere date?
“Witch Hat Atelier” will premiere on Crunchyroll on April 6. The premiere date was revealed in a recent trailer, which you can watch below. The trailer is subtitled in English, but it is not yet clear whether there will be an English dub.
How to watch “Witch Hat Atelier” early
Anime fans attending Sakura-Con will be able to catch the first two episodes early on April 4 at 10:30 a.m. PT in the Seattle Convention Center’s Ballroom 2.
Crunchyroll will also be screening several other anime previews in Ballroom 2 as part of its Crunchyroll Presents series. Other titles include “Classroom of the Elite,” “Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE,” and “LIAR GAME.”
But we East Coasters will have to wait for the anime season to officially start. Wondering when each title will premiere on streaming? Check back later in the month for our full Anime Simulcast Schedule, featuring premieres from Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, and more.
