Optimum now has standalone TV plans so you don’t have to bundle to get TV. But the new bundle deals are totally sweet—even though they don’t include all of Optimum’s 340+ channels. And, by the way, Optimum still pays up to $500 to free you from your current provider’s contract, so now you’ll actually want to bundle.

If you just want to know the best Optimum bundles so you can pick one and be done, we recommend the four in the above table.

Fiber Internet 1 Gig and Core TV ($80 a month, 210+ channels, 1,000 Mbps download and upload speeds) is an excellent deal for the price—especially if you have a large family with lots of gamers and TV streamers.

If you can’t get fiber where you live, the cable connection in Optimum 1 Gig and Core TV ($105 a month, 210+ channels, 1,000 Mbps download speeds) will still handle the demanding activities of your megafam. Cable just has much slower upload speeds compared to fiber. That’s only a problem if, in addition to the gaming and streaming, you also do a lot of video calls and data uploading.

Both bundles come in triple-play versions with home phone service, as indicated in the table.

If you want more information on them before you choose, keep reading.

Optimum bundles and pricing

Optimum has three types of bundles:

  • Internet and TV ($55–$105/mo.)
  • Internet and phone ($45–$90/mo.)
  • Internet, TV, and phone ($65–$115/mo.)

Let’s explore each bundle type individually.

If there’s a con to Optimum’s new bundles, it’s that they come with only 50–210+ channels, while Optimum offers up to 340+ in standalone TV packages. We’ve heard of providers adding channels if you bundle, but why withhold 130 perfectly good channels from bundles? Maybe it makes it easier to offer these screamin’ introductory deals.

Pro tip: Don’t fall for TV providers’ basic cable bundles with 50 or fewer channels—you might as well flush your money. There’s no reason to pay monthly for local channels and subchannels (which is all you get with basic TV plans) that you can get with a $30 over-the-air (OTA) antenna.

As for the internet portion of Optimum bundles, you’ll get either cable or fiber connections based on your location. Hopefully you can get fiber, ‘cause the speeds and the prices are better. But even Optimum’s cable bundles are a great deal. But other providers charge more because their bundles have more channels.

Do you already have TV service but still need internet and a home phone line? The next set of Optimum bundles may be what you seek.

With Optimum’s cable and fiber bundles, the phone line—with unlimited calling to the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands—costs an additional $10 over the standalone internet packages. Compared to other providers, that’s about average.

But $65 for a 1 gig cable or fiber connection plus the phone line is a good deal. We’ve highlighted the best bundles in the table above. Or, if you don’t need that much internet speed, you can save $10–$20 a month by dropping down to one of the 300–500 Mbps bundles.

Similar to the internet and phone bundle, Optimum’s internet, TV, and phone bundles add ten bucks for the phone line. Our recommendations for these triple-play bundles are essentially the same as our internet-and-TV picks—but you’ll pay an extra $10 a month for Optimum’s unlimited calling plan.

Optimum bundle deals and promotions

We found a couple of Optimum deals: one for new customers and one for current customers. Advertised deals for established customers are rare, so good on Optimum for having one.

Optimum deals for current customers

Bundle Internet and TV: 200 Mbps internet, 210+ channels, and cloud DVR for $69.99/mo.* (for one year), plus a $100 Visa® Prepaid card.

Optimum deals for new customers

  • Pop-up deal: When you order online at Optimum.com, you may see a pop-up offering $10 off your first month, a $200 Visa® Prepaid card, and free installation. Terms apply.

The $200 Visa card could cover two months of our bundle recommendation, Optimum 500 and Core TV ($85 a month). Or you could buy yourself somethin’ nice.

Final take: Are Optimum bundles worth it?

Optimum’s new bundles have no contracts, high speeds, and low prices, and the famous Optimum contract buyout remains in effect. But Optimum isn’t so great for TV lovers—it withholds 130 of its 340+ live TV channels from its bundles, and its pricey equipment, limited DVR storage, and high DVR fees really eat into the bundles’ value.

That said, medium-to-large families and internet power users will love having enough bandwidth to support heavy streaming and online gaming—but you can get that without bundling. Optimum’s standalone internet plans are a sweet deal, too, so get one of those and subscribe to a live TV streaming service on the side.

Or, if you’re all set for TV service but need a phone line, try any of Optimum’s internet-and-phone bundles with speeds of at least 300 Mbps. They’re a great value.
