Catch up before the 2025 Emmys

If you’re headed to an Emmys watch party this year, you’ll probably want to impress your peers with your television knowledge. But there are a lot of nominees spread across several streaming services, and I’m betting you haven’t been able to watch them all.

Rather than going through the labor of searching up each nominee individually (or worse—trusting an AI model to give you accurate data without hallucinating), just bookmark this page as you work your way through your TV backlog. I’ve listed out which nominees are available on which service and starred the really important ones that you’ll be able to watch winning awards during the Primetime Emmys on September 14.

But first, a word from our sponsor, DIRECTV: If you don’t already have the streaming services you’d need to watch all the biggest nominees, consider DIRECTV’s streaming bundle. Select DIRECTV packages include three months of HBO Max™, Paramount+ Premium (with SHOWTIME), STARZ®, Cinemax®, and MGM+™, giving you access to much more than just this year’s crop of nominees.

HBO Max scored the most nominations this year—146 by my count—so DIRECTV streaming subscribers will be perfectly set up to watch Emmy-nominated shows like The Penguin, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us. And Paramount+ also has its own slate of nominated shows, including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Survivor, and Matlock. You can even try streaming with DIRECTV for free to see if it suits your binge-watching tastes.

Shows nominated for major categories (for the Primetime Emmys on September 14) are marked with a star (⭐).

Which streaming service has the most Emmy nominees?

HBO Max received the most nominations this year, with 146 nominations across its drama, comedy, and nonfiction titles. It beat out both traditional cable networks and other streaming services by a long shot. Coming in second place is Netflix, which received 127 nominations due to the sheer size of its library.

The most-nominated show was Apple TV+’s Severance, which earned 27 nominations. Personally, I’m thrilled to hear it—Severance was one of the best shows I watched this year. Well, that and Dan Da Dan, but anime typically has its own awards separate from the Emmys.

When can I watch the 2025 Emmy Awards?

The biggest categories will be honored during the Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14 at 8:00 p.m., airing live on CBS and Paramount+.

The official red carpet preshow will air an hour earlier on CBS. Our Managing Editor, Mike Strayer, is particularly jazzed for the pageantry, “My family likes to post up extra early every year to catch all the fashion and clippy interviews by tuning into E! Live From the Red Carpet before flipping over to CBS.”

The rest of the Emmy Awards will be awarded during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, airing September 6 and 7 on FXX.

“CBS Presents: EMMYS. Live, September 14 8 ET|5PT on CBS and Paramount+.” Next to this text is a picture of an Emmy Award.

If you’re looking for more than the standard fare of prestige dramas and not-quite-comedies, I’d recommend you tune in to the Creative Arts Emmys. It’s a little less accessible than the Primetime Emmys, since it airs on FXX rather than CBS, but it’s where you’ll find Andor, Arcane, and other popular fantasy and sci-fi shows.
