Right now, there are nearly 700 horror movies on Amazon Prime Video (for subscribers, natch. That’s almost as many as Shudder, the top horror streaming service. You know what else? Prime Video also has close to 2,500 more horror movies to rent via video-on-demand (VOD), including some of the newest titles around, like the hottest horror movie of 2025, Weapons. Here’s what else Prime Video has goin’ for it in the horror department:

- Almost any horror franchise is available on VOD
I’ve included three VOD recommendations among the 28 others that stream for free with a Prime Video subscription. Two of them—Zach Cregger’s Barbarian and Weapons—come early in the first themed weekend of the month. (Careful with Weapons, though: It’s like 20 bucks to rent right now.)
There are two other weekends, one devoted to a Leatherface double-feature (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 50th Anniversary and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) and the other to 1985 zombies with Day of the Dead (1985) and The Return of the Living Dead (1985). (I goofed and didn’t come up with a theme for the second week of the month.) And then, on Halloween, I suggest a Terrifier double-feature (which could easily become a triple-feature if you rent Terrifier 3 on VOD).
