Good eeeeeevening, HBO Max fans and potential subscribers. Your chosen streaming service has a reputation for its many premium TV series, but there’s a lot of great horror movies on HBO Max—98 movies and five series (I counted ‘em myself). Among these are the following exclusives (or near-exclusives) like:
- Classic 1960s J-horror
- The Conjuring Universe
- Final Destination franchise
- IT franchise, including the new series IT: Welcome to Derry
Now, allow me to present you with your schedule of 31 suggested scare-fests for October.
We start with this year’s Hugh Grant-vs.-Mormon missionaries horror gem Heretic and Guillermo del Toro’s Mexican vampire classic Cronos. We then hit the first of a few themed weekends based on the abovementioned HBO Max exclusives, with the first Final Destination on Friday and the most recent, this year’s Final Destination: Bloodlines, on Saturday. Other weekends throughout the month spotlight classic 1960s J-horror, The Conjuring Universe, and the IT franchise.
Other high points include 2024’s haunting I Saw the TV Glow, another 2025 banger—the bonkers Bring Her Back, and the blood-red cherry on top, the fantastic anthology Trick ‘r Treat on Halloween.
