How good are T-Mobile 5G Home Internet deals?

Because of that unpredictability, we appreciate T-Mobile offering a free 15-day trial to see how well its 5G Home Internet service works in your home.

T-Mobile also likes to sweeten the pot with deals, including bundle discounts and freebies. Head over to our T-Mobile deals guide to learn more about T-Mobile’s best internet and mobile deals.

How good are Verizon Fios deals?

Verizon Fios, which is Verizon’s fiber internet and TV service, earned its spot as one of our top fiber internet providers thanks to its excellent internet speeds and customer service.

Verizon Fios’s availability leaves a bit to be desired because the service is only available in nine states. But with Verizon’s fast internet speeds and free devices, life is good if you live in a Verizon Fios service area. Check out our Verizon deals guide to learn more about Verizon’s best internet deals.

Spectrum Internet Gig: Best traditional cable

How good are Spectrum deals?

Spectrum’s deals aren’t necessarily as fancy as other providers that offer gift cards or lengthy free streaming subscriptions. But Spectrum’s no-contract agreements and sizable early termination fee offer are strong incentives if you’re looking to jump ship from an ISP that requires a lengthy service agreement. Plus, if you’re looking for TV, Spectrum TV Select Signature and TV Select Plus already come with Disney+ (with ads), and Select Plus also includes ESPN+ (with ads). Not too shabby.

Read our Spectrum deals guide to find out about the best Spectrum promotions.

Optimum 500: Best for streaming

Price:
$60.00/mo.
Maximum download speeds:
500 Mbps
Data cap:
Unlimited
Contract:
None
Special offer:
Bundle discounts
  • No contracts
  • Unlimited data
  • Lackluster customer service

Get Optimum 1 Gig or Fiber 1 Gig internet for as low as $35 when you bundle with an Optimum Unlimited Mobile plan. Also, get a free iPhone 16 and $200 gift card with that same bundle.

How good are Optimum deals?

We’d recommend Optimum 500 if your household has multiple people who’ll regularly stream videos or download games. Optimum is one of the few ISPs in the greater New York City region that offers fiber internet, and for $60.00 monthly with 500 Mbps download speeds, Optimum 500 strikes a good balance between performance and value.

Check out our Optimum deals page to learn more about Optimum savings.

Xfinity Connect More: Best for students

Price:
$30.00–$35.00/mo.
Maximum download speed:
200–300 Mbps
Data cap:
1.2 TB
Contract:
Required
Special offer:
Free Peacock Premium
  • Nationwide internet coverage
  • Great student add-ons
  • Data caps
  • Price increases after a year

Xfinity offers special college student deals with your Xfinity internet service if you’re a current student. For non-students, you can still get deals including Visa prepaid cards and free mobile lines depending on your bundle or internet package.

  • A prepaid Visa card for military members
  • For a limited time, when you purchase Xfinity’s Gigabit (Central or Northeast Division), Gigabit Plus, Gigabit Extra, or Gigabit x2 plans, you can get 2 years of Peacock Premium for free
  • With Xfinity’s new NOW line of products, get NOW Internet starting at just $30/mo., a NOW Mobile unlimited line for just $25/mo., and NOW TV for just $20/mo.
  • . . . and more

How good are Xfinity deals?

Xfinity’s Connect More internet plan offers 200–300 Mbps maximum download speeds for only $30.00–$35.00 for the first year, depending on where you live. Unfortunately, this plan requires a 1- or 2- year contract in some regions, so make sure you read the fine print if you plan on moving in the near future.

The package is a great value for college students who need the internet for classes and sending assignments because Xfinity’s nationwide coverage means that it’ll likely be available near most large or mid-sized universities. But Xfinity’s contract pricing means that your bill will increase by around $30 after 12 months. Visit our Xfinity deals guide to find out about all of Xfinity’s internet savings.

Astound Broadband Gig Internet: Best for new customers

Price:
$20.00–$55.00/mo.
Maximum download speed:
1,500 Mbps
Data cap:
Unlimited
Contract:
None
Special offer:
Free months of service
  • Affordable prices
  • No contracts
  • Extremely limited availability

Astound Broadband Powered by RCN offers a good broadband internet deal for those in the know—that’s you. Other regional deals include bundled internet modems.

How good are Astound Broadband deals?

At only $20.00–$55.00/mo. (Astound Broadband’s prices depend on your city), Astound Broadband’s Gig Internet is one of the cheapest 940 Mbps internet plans on the market. The plan offers great value if your household frequently plays online games or watches Hulu.

But even for a regional provider, Astound Broadband has pretty limited availability. If you’re not in Astound Broadband’s six-city coverage area (Boston, New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Lehigh Valley), you’ll have to look elsewhere for internet service.

AT&T 1 Gig Internet: Best no-contract internet

How good are AT&T Fiber deals?

We’d recommend AT&T 1 Gig Internet if AT&T Fiber is available at your address. The plan is one of the best fiber internet options from a major provider, and you’ll get excellent upload and download speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps.

Read our AT&T deals guide to find out about the best AT&T offers.

What to look for in internet packages and deals

When you’re looking for internet deals, here’s what you’ll need to know to make sure you get the biggest savings and fastest download speeds.

Prepaid gift cards

Depending on your internet provider, it’ll usually take between two to three months before you get your prepaid cash card. Oftentimes, the cards are sent through a third-party company and won’t come directly from your internet provider. Make sure to mark in your calendar when your card should arrive and be ready to give your internet provider a call if you don’t spot the card in your inbox.

Price

Internet providers throw out deals like free months and cash cards to get your foot in the door, but the best providers give you a reason to stick around. Make sure that your internet price is guaranteed for at least a year and won’t drastically increase after the 12-month mark.

There are a ton of internet providers that also have special offers for low-income folks, students, and seniors. Check out our guide to free and low-income internet to get the low down.

Download speeds

When you’re deciding on an internet plan, you don’t want to overpay or underpay for a package with download speeds that don’t fit your home’s internet needs. Typically, we recommend sub-100 Mbps internet plans only if your home has light internet requirements like checking emails. If your household regularly streams 4K video and takes Zoom calls, we’d suggest upgrading to a plan with at least 300 Mbps download speeds.

Prepaid internet

If you’re looking for budget and no-contract internet service, consider a prepaid internet plan from a provider like Cox and Xfinity. Prepaid internet plans generally offer slow download speeds of less than 100 Mbps, but you’ll pay a flat rate and won’t have a price increase after your first year of service.

Student and military discounts

Some ISPs offer discounts for subscribers who are students, teachers, or military service members. For example, Xfinity offers a gift card for veterans or active service members. Visit your ISP’s website to confirm if you qualify for any potential discounts.

Numerous ISPs also offer affordable low-income internet plans for qualifying customers. Check out our low-income internet guide to learn more about these programs.

Find the best internet deals

Internet deals may seem like gimmicky promotions, but if you take advantage of them right, you can save a lot. Verizon Fios and AT&T offer great packages and fiber internet speeds for new customers, while Xfinity and make the sign-up process a breeze for students and new customers.

When you’re shopping for an internet deal, look for providers who offer bonuses like prepaid cards, free months of service, or free subscriptions to services like Max. If the deals above don’t scratch your money-saving itch, check out the best cheap internet packages we recommend.
