Google Fiber was one of the top performers in our 2025 internet customer satisfaction survey and Best of the Best Awards for good reason. Google Fiber has excellent pricing, no data caps, and the fast speeds that only fiber internet can give you. Google Fiber also came out squarely on top for best customer support as the only fiber ISP to hit over 80% approval and under 5% disapproval ratings. Not too shabby.
In testing data from our partners at HighSpeedInternet.com, Google Fiber had a middling latency time of 23.9 milliseconds. This’ll be fine for most households, but it’s a step behind fiber competitors like Verizon Fios and Frontier Fiber, who clocked in at around 10 milliseconds. But at the same time, customers are more than satisfied with Google Fiber’s performance—more than 80% of respondents approved of Google’s reliability and speed.
Google Fiber is the most honest and trustworthy and reliable provider I have ever I used since Comcast. Google Fiber is right there 24/7 if you ever need anything with your account.
Google also led the pack among all providers on pricing. The ISP isn’t necessarily cheap, as its starting plan is a 1 Gbps package that goes for $70.00/mo. But it’s one of the most affordable 1 Gbps plans among fiber ISPs, and customers know that they’re getting a deal. 80% of Google Fiber respondents were highly satisfied with Google Fiber’s prices, which led among all ISPs.
Unfortunately, Google Fiber is hindered by its small footprint, as it’s currently available in fewer than 50 US cities. If you’re lucky enough to have their service near you, we seriously recommend you check them out.

Verizon’s one of the few fiber internet providers that offers bundle services alongside internet, so they’ll be a great fit if you need to get coverage for an entire family. Between Verizon TV plans, home phone lines, and cell phone coverage, you can get bundle savings and have the convenience of multiple services on a single bill.
When we surveyed over 7,000 people about their internet service, Verizon Fios customers were also among the most satisfied by far. Plus, Verizon Fios had multiple top-five polling finishes in internet speed, reliability, customer support, and monthly bill price.
If Verizon Fios is available in your area, we say go for it. Its price range fits comfortably in most budgets, and Verizon Fios regularly woos new users with extra deals like free hardware and streaming service subscriptions. We certainly wouldn’t turn down the chance to binge-watch more TV with our internet service.

On one hand, Quantum Fiber’s simply CenturyLink fiber internet under a new name—parent company Lumen will keep its DSL customers on CenturyLink and move fiber customers over to Quantum. But on the other hand, Quantum’s made the most of its new moniker. The provider did respectable in our customer satisfaction survey polling, and led the pack with a first-place finish for internet speed satisfaction.
However, Quantum doesn’t offer much besides internet service—you’ll need to go elsewhere for TV coverage, and its $45.00–$50.00/mo. starting pricing hits the bare minimum for budget-minded households. But Quantum’s excellent service makes it a stellar option for eligible fiber internet customers.

Even though the average customer won’t need the insanely high speeds (and equally high price) of their $900 per month 50 Gig plan, Ziply offers plenty of other fiber plans to fit your needs from 100 Mbps to 50,000 Mbps. Plus, Ziply’s fiber network has stellar latency times that’ll ensure you’ll have smooth online gaming and video calls.
Plus, Ziply doesn’t have annual contracts, so you’re free to leave and switch providers with no extra fees. The downside is Ziply’s limited availability—their plans are only available in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.

AT&T Fiber scored in the top five overall for multiple internet customer satisfaction survey categories and features no annual contracts. So, why isn’t AT&T Fiber our pick for the top fiber ISP?
It’s a hair pricier than the competition, as alternatives like Frontier and Google Fiber are cheaper on a per-Gbps basis. Although AT&T is one of the few ISPs with a nationwide fiber footprint, its availability still varies heavily by city.

Other top fiber internet providers
Frontier
Frontier Fiber, Frontier’s fiber-optic internet service, offers superfast download speeds at affordable rates. It has limited availability in 23 states, but if you live in a Frontier area, we recommend you grab it if you’re able.
Frontier sometimes offers sign-up deals, so be sure to keep a lookout for those when signing up.
MetroNet
Another fiber ISP with limited availability, MetroNet is only available in 17 US states. Even so, MetroNet users also found a lot to like about its service. MetroNet came in top 10 in our 2025 internet customer satisfaction survey, beating out larger competitors like Spectrum, and CenturyLink.
MetroNet also has super affordable fiber plans, with download and upload speeds between 100 Mbps and 5,000 Mbps, starting at just $34.95 per month.
CenturyLink
As mentioned earlier, fiber internet providers vary a lot by area, and sometimes you just have to take what you can get. If your area still has CenturyLink fiber, the provider fills in gaps left behind by other providers by offering fiber internet service in cities dotted throughout the US, from Orlando, Florida to Spokane, Washington.
CenturyLink offers three fiber internet plans, and the 940 Mbps plan’s $70 monthly cost is one of the cheapest gigabit plans in the US. That’s a pretty killer deal compared to other providers’ gigabit plans that can run up to $100 a month.
So don’t feel too bad if CenturyLink is your only fiber internet provider. It might not have earned a gold medal here, but it still has the zooming speeds and unbeatable reliability you turn to fiber internet for.
WOW! fiber internet
WOW! has solid fiber internet choices if you’re looking for an internet plan with no strings attached—but that’s only if it’s available near you. Unfortunately, WOW! is only available in nine states in the eastern half of the US, and its fiber internet rollout is even more limited. As of this writing, it’s only available in 15 cities total between Florida, Michigan, and South Carolina.
If you’re lucky enough to live in a WOW!-serviced area, their fast, inexpensive internet plans are solid choices, especially with their lack of pesky contracts. WOW’s fiber plan options are even more limited, though, so keep that in mind.
Optimum
Optimum is a relatively lower-profile contender on the fiber scene. But Optimum builds up its hype by offering flash deals. Sign up at the right time and you can snag massive discounts. Couple Optimum’s low cost with the fact that it offers sleek equipment and built-in fiber-optic Wi-Fi, and you can see why we like Optimum.
Keep in mind, however, that our survey revealed that the Optimum customers aren’t among the most satisfied internet customers. We suspect that our Optimum participants may be in Optimum’s cable internet areas, which don’t have quite the same reliability or upload speeds.
But if you’ve got Optimum fiber internet in your area, keep checking Optimum’s website for savings and then jump on those reduced prices.
What to look for in a fiber internet provider
When it comes to fiber internet, you should look for the same things you would with any other type of internet provider:

Speed
Most fiber internet options come with speeds that comfortably cover today’s internet needs. Download speeds around 100 Mbps will make streaming a breeze, and faster speeds are great for families whose members use the internet at the same time.
Keep in mind that upload speeds are also important, especially if you video chat, play online games, or put big files up online. As a general rule, fiber plans have higher upload speeds than cable, DSL, or satellite internet because they can support equal upload and download speeds.
How fast is gig speed internet? With one gig, you can download an entire two-hour HD movie in about 32 seconds. That’s just enough time to adjust your pillow and blanket so you’re ready for a cozy night in.
Price
How much should your fiber optic internet plan cost? While prices vary from provider to provider, there are a couple of benchmarks to keep in mind:
- 300 Mbps plans average just under $50/mo.
- 940 Mbps or 1 gig plans tend to be just under $80/mo.
And be sure to see how long you can keep the price you signed up with. Some regional fiber ISPs offer lower promotional prices for only a year, though most guarantee prices for years and avoid tricks like 12-month price increases.
You’ll also want to consider equipment costs. Some plans include a modem/router in the pricing, while others require you to lease them for about $10 per month. That extra fee can be a real pain if you’re not prepared for it.
