The Yankees’ quest for a 28th World Series title
The New York Yankees are one of the most successful franchises in sports history. But for a generation of fans, the 2009 World Series triumph feels like a lifetime ago. The Bronx Bombers came tantalizingly close to the mountaintop in 2024, only to be waxed by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Naturally, every season is a must-watch to see if the Yankees can make it over the hump.
Fans watching on TV will continue tuning into YES Network for all things Yankees. While the team has put up back-to-back 94-win seasons, a disappointing ALDS exit last year has left the roster with plenty to prove. Can the Yanks challenge the Dodgers this year, or will 2026 end in more disappointment?
I created this TV guide for the fans who live and breathe pinstripes and don’t want to miss a single second of the action in the Bronx. Keep reading for channel details and my provider recommendations.
Where to watch the Yankees—local TV breakdown
YES Network remains the Yankees’ primary broadcast home, but in-market fans also need an Amazon Prime Video subscription. For the 2026 season, Prime Video will exclusively stream 21 Yankees games—mostly on Wednesday nights—to fans within the team’s home territory.
That in-market region includes New York, Connecticut, north and central New Jersey, and northeast Pennsylvania. Fans living outside those areas need MLB.TV (streaming) or MLB EXTRA INNINGS (cable or satellite) to watch most Yankees games live.
| Channel | Starting price | Coverage | Available on |
|---|---|---|---|
| YES Network | $19.99/mo. | Most in-market games | Cox, DIRECTV, Optimum, Spectrum, Verizon Fios, Xfinity, Fubo, The Gotham Sports App |
| Amazon Prime Video | $8.99–$17.98/mo. | 21 exclusive in-market games | Prime Video app |
| MLB.TV | $29.99/mo. | Most out-of-market games | MLB and ESPN apps |
| MLB EXTRA INNINGS | $149.99/season | Most out-of-market games | Cable and satellite services |
Where to watch the Yankees—national TV breakdown
As one of the most iconic brands in global sports, the Yankees are a staple of the national TV schedule and frequently appear in MLB’s biggest showcase windows. This year is no exception, as the team was chosen to headline the league’s inaugural Opening Night on Netflix against the San Francisco Giants.
As the season progresses, you can find the Yankees on FOX, TBS, ESPN, FS1, NBC, Apple TV, and Peacock Premium. These games are broadcast nationwide, so they’re the perfect way for fans outside of New York to catch Aaron Judge and co. in high-stakes matchups.
| Network | Coverage | Available on |
|---|---|---|
| Apple TV | Friday Night Baseball exclusive games | Apple TV subscription ($12.99/mo.) |
| ESPN | Select regular-season games | Cable, satellite, live TV streaming services |
| FOX | Saturday MLB games, select primetime matchups, All-Star Game, World Series | Cable, satellite, live TV streaming services |

Best TV plans for watching the New York Yankees
There’s no way around it: MLB media rights are currently a mess. Between traditional cable networks, regional sports networks (RSNs), and a growing list of exclusive streaming partners, catching all 162 Yankees games requires a bit of a jigsaw puzzle approach.
For die-hard in-market fans living in the tri-state area, the goal is securing access to both YES Network and Amazon Prime Video. DIRECTV remains my top recommendation for these fans because it includes YES Network and every traditional national channel. But if you want to skip the high cost of a live TV plan, you can subscribe to The Gotham Sports App for YES Network access and maintain a separate Prime Video membership.
Meanwhile, out-of-market fans have a much simpler path but still need multiple apps. An MLB.TV subscription is the best way to stream the vast majority of Yankees games if you live outside of New York. Just keep in mind that you’ll still need separate subscriptions for any exclusives on traditional TV (FOX, FS1, TBS, etc.) and streaming (Apple TV, Peacock Premium, etc).

Best Overall
DIRECTV includes YES Network (ch. 631) and most of the national channels you’ll need to watch most Yankees games.
