2025 NFL Season to Feature Record Number of Streaming-Exclusive Games

Confused man with a thought bubble showing NFL and streaming service logos.

The NFL unveiled its full 2025 regular-season schedule on Wednesday night. While fans were busy circling marquee matchups, one trend stood out: This year will feature more streaming-exclusive NFL games than ever before.

Building on the league’s recent digital expansion that saw Netflix take over Christmas Day games in 2024, the 2025 season brings even more platforms into the mix. That includes a Week 1 matchup streaming live on YouTube and YouTube TV, marking a first for the league.

Amazon Prime Video, ESPN+, and Peacock are also back with exclusive broadcasts.

With so many platforms in play, it’s easy to lose track of who’s streaming what. In this article, I’ll break down the NFL’s streaming monster, platform by platform. You’ll see which NFL games are exclusive to streaming in 2025 and how you can watch them.

2025 NFL streaming exclusives at a glance

Before I dive into the specifics, I wanted to give you a quick look at who’s streaming what. While other platforms like Paramount+ carry games that also air on traditional channels, these are the services with exclusive matchups in 2025.

  • YouTube/YouTube TV (1 game): Week 1 Friday night opener from Brazil, streaming free worldwide.
  • Amazon Prime Video (16 games): 15 Thursday Night Football matchups, plus the Black Friday game.
  • Peacock (1 game): Week 17 Peacock Holiday Exclusive game.
  • Netflix (2 games): Two exclusive Christmas Day matchups.
  • ESPN+ (1 game): One exclusive Monday Night Football game in Week 7.

YouTube (1 game)

In a major first for the NFL’s streaming playbook, YouTube and YouTube TV will exclusively stream one regular-season game for free in 2025. The matchup comes in Week 1 on Friday, September 5, live from São Paulo, Brazil. It’ll see the Los Angeles Chargers take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Corinthians Arena.

If you’re a YouTube TV subscriber, you may already be using it for NFL Sunday Ticket, which remains exclusive to the platform. This Week 1 game adds another layer to YouTube’s growing role in the NFL’s media plans.

Per NFL policy, the game will still air on local channels in both teams’ TV markets. But YouTube will be the exclusive streaming home for everyone else.

Amazon Prime Video (16 games)

Prime Video returns with a full slate of Thursday Night Football games in 2025. But what really stands out this season are its two holiday exclusives: Black Friday Football and a Christmas night showdown.

The Black Friday game on November 28 will feature the Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles against the Chicago Bears. Adding to the festive excitement, Prime Video’s Christmas matchup will see the Denver Broncos visit the Kansas City Chiefs in an AFC West battle.

That’s 16 total games on Prime Video this season. And unless you live in a participating team’s home market, you’ll need a streaming subscription to tune in.

Peacock (1 game)

Peacock’s been in the exclusive NFL game business for a couple of seasons now. This year, that continues with a primetime Week 17 matchup streaming Saturday, December 27.

Dubbed the Peacock Holiday Exclusive, this game will feature two key teams in the playoff hunt. The frustrating part for us planners, though, is that we won’t know those crucial details until much later in the season.

Of course, if you happen to live in one of the participating team markets, you can watch the game on NBC. For everyone else, it’s Peacock or nothing.

Beyond that, Peacock will also stream all of NBC’s Sunday Night Football (SNF) broadcasts. The platform is also home to expanded SNF studio coverage.

Netflix (2 games)

Netflix is back for its second year as an NFL TV partner with two exclusive Christmas Day games as part of its NFL Christmas Gameday presentation.

The first matchup will see the Dallas Cowboys face off against the Washington Commanders. Then, the Minnesota Vikings will host the Detroit Lions in Minneapolis for more gridiron merriment. You can also expect Netflix to enhance each broadcast with a holiday-spiced lineup of entertainment and studio coverage. But who knows how it’ll top last year’s Beyoncé halftime show?

What makes Christmas Day 2025 particularly noteworthy for NFL fans is the shared holiday spotlight between Netflix and Amazon. With Christmas falling on a Thursday, Amazon gets the Thursday Night Football slot, making this the first time two of the world’s biggest streamers will air NFL games on the same day.

Fifteen years ago, that would’ve sounded like science fiction. Now, it’s just the reality of sports broadcasting.

ESPN+ (1 game)

This year’s Monday Night Football (MNF) schedule includes one matchup streaming exclusively on ESPN+. If you’re hoping to watch the Houston Texans take on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7, you’ll need an ESPN+ subscription. It’ll otherwise only air on local channels in the Houston and Seattle TV markets.

Beyond this one-off exclusive, ESPN+ also streams all MNF games that air on ABC and select Manningcasts. Subscribers also get every NFL Primetime episode this season, featuring the recently reupped Chris Berman.

While not essential for watching most of the NFL season, ESPN+ still provides significant value if you enjoy a wider range of sports. Other CableTV.com writers and I use it a lot to watch college football.
