Watch It Before It’s Gone: One of the Best Netflix Originals Is Leaving the Platform Forever

‘Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts’ is leaving Netflix

When Netflix originally partnered with DreamWorks animation, it seemed like a great idea. Original animated content, created just for Netflix where it could air directly to the masses! This collaboration resulted in some of the best animation of the past decade.

…But the problem is, Netflix never actually owned “Voltron: Legendary Defender” or “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.” DreamWorks did. Much like a movie lover renting a VHS in days of old, Netflix was only renting the shows for a handful of years. And now it’s time to return them.

“Voltron” and “She-Ra” have already left the platform (both shows are now only available on VOD), and “Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts” is up next on the chopping block.

It’s really a shame! “Kipo” was a fantastic show about a girl growing up in a post-apocalyptic world of mutant animals, and was filled with catchy songs and fun cameos. There’s a whole song about using cheese for divination rituals.

That’s why I really recommend you watch it before it goes away forever. Not on board yet? Check out the show’s original trailer below, and keep reading for more details about when the show will disappear forever.

When is ‘Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts’ leaving Netflix?

Netflix will remove “Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts” from its platform on June 26, 2026 at midnight. So as of writing, you have a little less than a month to rewatch the show before it’s gone forever.

Where can I watch ‘Kipo’ now?

Unfortunately, DreamWorks’ parent company NBCUniversal hasn’t yet announced what it plans to do with its shows now that they’ve been returned. Other removed titles are still available on VOD, but they haven’t been leased out to any competing streaming services yet.

The most obvious choice would be for NBCUniversal to scoop them up for its own streaming service, Peacock. But this hasn’t happened yet with any of the other Netflix titles, and NBCUniversal isn’t shy about selling its originals to other streamers. The DreamWorks show “Curses!” aired a few years ago on Apple TV, and “Fright Krewe” is split between Hulu and Peacock.

The worst-case scenario would be apathy. As we’ve been learning in recent years, it’s really easy for producers to kill projects and for streaming shows to become lost media. Luckily, “Kipo” got a full DVD release, so you can always just buy it off of Amazon or wherever you source your physical media. I might actually do that myself for both “Kipo” and “She-Ra,” regardless of where they end up.
