Xfinity’s cheapest internet plan is its 50 Mbps Performance Starter package, while its most expensive plan is the 2,000 Gbps Gigabit Speed plan. The internet service provider’s exact plans vary depending on where you live, so we’ve divided our high-speed internet selections by Xfinity’s service regions.

In Xfinity’s West region, which covers the Intermountain West and West Coast, Performance Starter Plus is the cheapest Xfinity cable internet service plan. With a maximum download speed of 50 Mbps and a 3 Mbps maximum upload speed, Performance Starter Plus offers modest headroom for customers.
This internet service plan works best for one- to two-person households that only use the internet for tasks like browsing Facebook or YouTube. Your bill will also increase to $34.99 per month after your first year and $50.00 monthly after year two.
If your budget has flexibility and you live in a three- to five-person household, we’d recommend upgrading to the Performance Select or Performance Pro plans. With respective maximum download speeds of 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps, either package accommodates more family members who want to take video calls or stream TV shows.

For customers in Xfinity’s Central region, which covers most midwestern states, Performance Starter is the cheapest Xfinity plan.
With its 50 Mbps maximum download speed and 5 Mbps upload speed, your cable internet performance will start to slow down if more than a few people are taking Zoom calls or transferring large files. Your bill will also increase to $46.00 per month once your one-year promotional pricing ends.
We’d recommend the Performance or Blast! packages if you live with your family or a few housemates. Either package offers faster maximum download speeds that are better suited for multiple internet users.

Count your fortunes if you’re a potential Xfinity customer in the Northeast: you get good Dunkin’ Donuts stores, better sports teams, and great Xfinity internet deals.
In the Northeast region, Xfinity’s cheapest internet plan is Performance Select. With 200 Mbps maximum download speeds and 5 Mbps upload speeds, the plan can handle multiple people who regularly stream 4K TV shows and take video calls.
Performance Select is faster than Xfinity’s other 50 Mbps entry-level plans, and it’s also Xfinity’s cheapest 200 Mbps internet package. The same plan costs $10.00 more in Xfinity’s Central and West regions.
The Performance Starter and Performance packages have slower download speeds and higher first-year prices compared to Performance Pro, but you won’t have to deal with a scheduled price increase. Performance Pro’s price increases to $95.95 monthly in year two.
Still, Performance Select is a great overall deal for Xfinity customers. At only $39.99 per month during its promotional pricing period, the plan offers fast download speeds that can comfortably support multiple internet users.
Package | Price | Download speeds up to | Upload speeds up to | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Performance Starter | $80.95/mo. | 50 Mbps | 5 Mbps | View Northeast plans |
Performance | $65.00/mo. | 100 Mbps | 5 Mbps | View Northeast plans |

Generally, the cheapest internet plans are also the slowest internet plans. If you have a family that’s regularly video calling and online gaming, you’ll have bad internet performance on a internet plan with low download speeds.
For larger households that regularly use the internet, we’d—at minimum—recommend Xfinity’s 100 Mbps internet plans. But Xfinity’s 25 Mbps plans could be a fit if you’re getting service for yourself or a two- to three-person household that doesn’t regularly use the internet.
As with most internet providers, Xfinity offers promos that initially give you a lower internet price that increases down the road. These price hikes usually come after one or two years, depending on the exact internet plan.
If you’d rather not bite the bullet and pay a larger monthly internet bill, we’d suggest trying to negotiate with Xfinity, changing internet providers before your promo pricing ends, or downgrading your service.
