Whether you’re checking in on your grandkids or looking for Sunday church group updates, everyone’s gotta have home internet service these days.
But for seniors, I know how hard it can be to ensure that your internet company’s not taking you to the cleaners. (Between tracking Social Security payments, following the news, and staying up-to-date with family, who has time to learn everything about their internet plan?)
Thankfully, CableTV.com’s here to make your internet shopping experience stress-free. If you’re considering Frontier internet and unsure where to start, I’ve dug into their fine print to break down download speeds, features, and prices.
From discount options to top internet plans, here’s everything you’ll need to know about Frontier service for seniors.
Frontier’s best internet plan for seniors

For seniors, my pick for the best Frontier internet plan is Fiber 200.
With pricing that’s less than $50 monthly, Fiber 200 won’t break the bank. Additionally, Frontier gives you a free Wi-Fi router, which wirelessly broadcasts an internet signal and allows your devices to get online. The plan’s 200 Mbps upload and download speeds will also be more than fast enough whether you’re checking the news or hosting grandkids who want to play some Minecraft.
Just be aware that Frontier offers two types of internet: its older DSL network, which uses phone lines (slower), and its modern fiber network, which uses newer cables (faster and more reliable), to deliver internet to your home. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to choose between either service type because of how Frontier’s network is set up—homes with Frontier internet will have either fiber or DSL service.
Frontier Internet is Frontier’s standard DSL plan. If your home qualifies only for DSL, you’ll get download speeds up to or around 100 Mbps. But with a $64.99/mo. introductory price, it’s not the most budget-friendly plan. Frontier DSL Internet works in a pinch, but if you’re looking to save a few more bucks and get faster performance, consider looking at 5G home internet solutions.
Does Frontier have senior discounts?
Technically, Frontier doesn’t have a senior discount on its internet plans. However, you may qualify for discounted internet service if you meet a few requirements.
- New York State residents enrolled in assistance programs like Medicaid or qualifying rent control exemptions can get Fiber 200 for $19.99 monthly or Frontier DSL internet for $14.99 per month.
- Lifeline is a federal subsidized internet program that’ll give you up to a $9.25 monthly internet discount if you’re enrolled in an assistance program like Medicaid.
