Key dates for the 2026 Tigers season

The road to the playoffs will be a marathon for the Detroit Tigers, as it is for most MLB teams. I’ve taken the liberty of breaking out a few stretches of the season for fans to watch out for.

  • Home Opener (April 3): The Tigers’ first home game is against the St. Louis Cardinals after a stretch of games on the road to start the year.
  • AL Central matchups: Some of the most important games for the Tigers will come against the Cleveland Guardians, Minnesota Twins, Kansas City Royals, and Chicago White Sox. June and August are months when the Tigers play many games against divisional opponents.
  • MLB All-Star Week (July 11–14): The Tigers are almost sure to have players at the 2026 All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
  • MLB Trade Deadline (Aug. 3): The Tigers are looking to make a deep postseason run, and they might be active at the deadline to find the missing pieces to make that happen.

Best Comerica Park promotional nights in 2026

Comerica Park is known for its skyline views, but the stadium’s 2026 promotional lineup is just as impressive. While the 313 Value Games remain the best deal for budget-conscious fans, several unique theme nights and high-end giveaways stand out this season

The three that I’ve got my eye on are Hank Greenberg 125th Anniversary Night (June 11), Central Michigan University Night (August 14), and Irish Heritage Night (September 22).

Detroit Tigers TV schedule FAQ

How many games are on the Tigers' schedule?

The Tigers play a standard 162-game regular season, divided equally between home games at Comerica Park and road trips. But with another postseason berth likely, they'll certainly play more than that.

Who are the Tigers' biggest rivals?

The Cleveland Guardians are the Tigers' primary divisional hurdle, especially after last year's neck-and-neck race for the AL Central. Detroit also maintains a fierce rivalry with the Chicago White Sox and a growing competitive feud with the Minnesota Twins.

How long does a Tigers game last?

Tigers games usually last between two and a half and three hours, depending on the number of runs scored and quality of defense.

What time do Tigers home games start?

Standard weeknight games at Comerica Park usually feature a 6:40 p.m. ET first pitch. Saturday games often shift to 1:10 p.m. or 4:10 p.m. ET, while Sunday "Family Days" almost always stick to the traditional 1:40 p.m. ET start.
