Savvy consumers want to bundle offerings like TV, Internet, and home phone for the convenience of combined billing and discounts. But what if you could add cell phone service to your internet service provider’s (ISP) plan, too?

Many ISPs have launched their own mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) services, which are ISP cell phone plans with features like 5G support and unlimited local calls. If you’re interested in bundling smartphone and internet service, we’ll explain what you’ll get on the top MVNOs.

If you’re interested in a cable TV and cell phone bundle, we have to break some bad news—you won’t get any savings with a cell phone and TV bundle. Internet is the name of the game when it comes to getting the best cell phone bundle deals.

Some MVNOs require you to have an internet plan with an ISP before you can get cell phone service, while others tack on discounts to encourage you to get a bundle. You can still get cable TV as part of your overall bundle, but don’t expect any monthly discounts from your TV provider.

MVNOs like Spectrum Mobile might not have the name recognition of major carriers like Verizon, but they’re miles better than your run-of-the-mill prepaid provider. Spectrum Mobile and Xfinity Mobile run on Verizon’s network, while Optimum Mobile uses T-Mobile, so you’ll get features like 5G and hotspot support.

If you’re willing to spend a little more per month on your cell phone plan, Verizon and AT&T also offer bundle discounts with internet service. With both providers, you’ll get bonuses like larger data caps per line and free streaming service subscriptions.

Comparing ISP cell phone plans in depth

Our top ISP cell phone plans share a few things in common: they have great cell phone coverage, strong pricing, and excellent value. Here’s what you need to know about the best cell phone and internet bundle plans.

Xfinity Mobile

Editor's choice
Monthly price (single line):
$15.00–$65.00/mo.
Monthly price (2+ lines):
$15.00–$50.00/mo.
Data allowance:
1–50 GB/mo.

Xfinity Mobile’s By the Gig plan offers shared data pools of 1 GB ($15.00/mo.), 3 GB ($30.00/mo.), and 10 GB ($60.00/mo.). It’ll also cost $15.00 monthly to add new lines to your plan. By the Gig offers better data cap pricing compared to Spectrum Mobile, so it’s a better fit if you need enough data for a whole family but can’t afford an Unlimited plan.

With Xfinity Mobile’s Unlimited plans, you’ll get data caps up to 50 GB and pricing that goes down as you add more lines to your plan. For example, you’ll pay $45.00 monthly for one line, $30.00 monthly for four lines, and $24.00 monthly for 10 lines on the Unlimited Intro plan.

You’ll get a better deal on Xfinity Mobile compared to Spectrum Mobile if you’re adding at least five people to an Unlimited plan. At $20.00 per line, Xfinity’s Unlimited Intro plan is slightly cheaper than Spectrum Mobile’s Unlimited Data plan ($29.99/mo. with more than two lines).

We’d suggest Xfinity Mobile if you’re getting Xfinity internet service (which is required for Xfinity Mobile) and need cell phone coverage for a large family. Visit our Xfinity Mobile review for more information about the MVNO.

Verizon Wireless Unlimited

Best value
Monthly price (single line):
$70.00–$90.00/mo.
Monthly price (2+ lines):
$35.00–$55.00/mo.
Data allowance:
50 GB–Unlimited

Although Verizon’s Unlimited plans are pricier compared to MVNOs like Optimum Mobile and Xfinity Mobile, you’ll also get a lot of bang for your buck.

Across Verizon’s four Unlimited plans, you’ll get a bounty of features like a larger 50 GB mobile data cap, actual unlimited data, discounted rates for tablet or watch plans, free TravelPass days for international coverage, 25 GB hotspot data caps, and a free Disney Bundle subscription. Verizon Fios and 5G/LTE Home Internet customers can also save up to $30 monthly by bundling home internet and cell phone service.

But at the same time, you’ll be paying a premium with Verizon’s Unlimited plans. With a single-line plan, you’ll be paying $70 monthly for the 5G Start plan, $80 for the 5G Play More and 5G Do More plans, and $90 for 5G Get More plan.

That said, Verizon’s increasing discounts—depending on the number of lines on your plan—help reduce the sticker shock. With five lines, Verizon’s prices go down to between $30 and $50 monthly per line.

We’d recommend a Verizon Wireless internet and phone bundle if you’re already a Verizon internet customer who will get the most from Verizon’s freebies and jumbo-sized data caps.

Spectrum Mobile

Cheapest
Monthly price (single line):
$14.00–$55.00/mo.
Monthly price (2+ lines):
$14.00–$39.99/mo.
Data allowance:
1–30 GB/mo.

Spectrum Mobile is available only for Spectrum Internet customers, but if you sign up for the MVNO, you’ll get one of the most affordable cell phone services around.

Spectrum Mobile’s By The Gig plan costs $14.00 monthly for 1 GB of data, and you can add more data for an additional $14.00 monthly per gig. The plan’s data pool is shared among family members—new phone lines cost $14.00 per month—making it a great option if you’re trying to get service for your entire family. It’s also the cheapest By The Gig plan around compared to competitors like Xfinity Mobile.

With Spectrum Mobile’s Unlimited Data ($45.00 monthly, $29.99 per line monthly with more than two lines) and Unlimited Plus ($55.00 monthly, $39.99 per line monthly with more than two lines) plans, you’ll lose the sharable data pool, but you’ll also get larger 20 GB and 30 GB data caps per line.

But Spectrum Mobile doesn’t offer stackable line savings beyond two lines, so you won’t save as much on Spectrum if you’re getting service for a large family. Plus, Xfinity Mobile and Optimum Mobile added 50 GB data cap plans, so they’re a step ahead of Spectrum’s Unlimited plan options.

If you’re considering Spectrum internet service and looking for affordable cell phone plans, we’d recommend giving Spectrum Mobile a closer look. Check out our full Spectrum Mobile review to learn more about the cell phone provider.

Other top ISP cell phone plans

Our runner-up cell phone ISP plans were a slight step behind our top picks. But if you’re already getting cell phone or internet service from these providers, you can still get a great deal by getting a full cell phone and internet service bundle.

Optimum Mobile

Monthly price (single line):
$14.00–$45.00/mo.
Monthly price (2+ lines):
$30.00–$40.00/mo.
Data allowance:
1–50 GB/mo.

Optimum Mobile keeps things simple with its four plans: 1 GB, 3 GB, Unlimited, and Unlimited Max. Unlike Xfinity and Spectrum, you don’t have to be an Optimum internet subscriber to get Optimum Mobile, but non-Optimum customers have to pay an extra $10 to $15 per plan.

Optimum Mobile also offers its share of deals for Optimum customers. With Unlimited GB (which includes a 20 GB data cap), you’ll save an additional $5 monthly for each line you add to your plan, with a maximum of five lines per account.

For five people, you’d be paying $25.00 monthly per line on Optimum Mobile. With Spectrum Mobile, you’d be locked into its $29.99 monthly rate. But on Xfinity Mobile’s comparable Unlimited Intro plan, you’d be paying $20.00 per line for a five-person family.

You’ll also get internet savings when you bundle Optimum Mobile and Optimum internet service. Depending on your exact Optimum bundle, you can save up to $15.00 monthly on your Optimum bill. (Head over to our Optimum deals page to see the current savings on internet and mobile bundles.) With Spectrum Mobile and Xfinity Mobile, you’ll get cheaper cell phone plans, but these deals won’t carry over to your internet.

Optimum Mobile will be a great fit if you’re already an Optimum internet customer and want to take advantage of additional savings. Check out our Optimum Mobile review to learn more about the ISP’s cell phone plans.

AT&T Wireless

Monthly price (single line):
$70.00–$90.00/mo.
Monthly price (2+ lines):
$30.00–$75.00/mo.
Data allowance:
50 GB–Unlimited

As with Verizon Wireless, AT&T offers a similar combo of higher prices and better features compared to MVNOs like Spectrum Mobile.

AT&T has three main phone plans: AT&T Unlimited Starter ($35–$65/mo.), AT&T Unlimited Extra ($40–$75/mo.), and AT&T Unlimited Elite ($50–$85/mo.). You’ll also get standard staggered line discounts between $5 and $15 per month depending on the number of lines on your plan.

AT&T has fewer freebies compared to Verizon, as you’ll have smaller hotspot data caps and no included Disney Bundle subscription. But AT&T’s plans are around $5 cheaper compared to Verizon and you can save up to 25% off your bill with an internet and phone bundle. We’d recommend an AT&T phone and internet bundle if you’re an AT&T internet customer who needs benefits like large data caps and can live with fewer freebies in exchange for a lower bill.

Need help shopping for a cell phone plan?

MVNOs work a lot like normal cell phone plans, but between data caps, data priority, and costs, it can be hard to figure out the best deal.

Final take

If you want a cell phone and internet bundle and you’re split between an MVNO or a major provider, remember to factor in your budget and smartphone needs.

MVNOs offer the most affordable cell phone plans, but they’ll work best if you use your smartphone only for calls and light streaming. Major providers like AT&T charge more, but you’ll get add-ons like unlimited data and free streaming subscriptions.

But regardless of what cell phone option you choose, we’d always recommend considering an internet and cell phone bundle if it’s an option. Cell phone and internet bundles offer the convenience of a single monthly bill and sizable monthly discounts.
