Hunting for Xtream senior internet or TV discounts? I investigated every Mediacom plan to find Mediacom’s best services for seniors.

TV and internet service is a must-have these days, whether you’re looking for grandkid updates or wanting to catch this year’s big Iowa-Iowa State game. But I won’t blame you if wading through Mediacom’s Xtream internet and TV plans leave you feeling extremely confused.

From pricing to the fine print, I dug through every Mediacom deal and plan to find the full scoop on what they offer and what you’re agreeing to. Before you hit Mediacom’s checkout page, here’s what you need to know about Mediacom’s best internet and TV plans for seniors.

Mediacom’s best internet plan for seniors

Internet package Price Download speeds Upload speeds up to
Internet 300 $50.00/mo. 300 Mbps 100 Mbps View plans

Data effective as of post date. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change.

Mediacom keeps things simple, offering only three Xtream internet plans. Unless you’re a senior who lives with your extended family or regularly games online, Xtream’s Internet 1 and 2 Gig plans will likely be unnecessary for your household. That’s why I recommend Internet 300 as Mediacom’s best internet plan for seniors.

Internet 300 won’t break your wallet with pricing that starts at only $50.00/mo. and solid 300 Mbps download speeds. That’ll offer more than enough internet performance for family nights and regular Facebook visits without the risk of slow internet speeds.

But keep in mind that Internet 300’s price will increase by around $10 to $15 (depending on where you live) after your first year of service. Like many cable internet providers, Mediacom uses promotional pricing on its internet plans—you’ll get a big discount on your first year, but you’ll pay your provider’s regular rate in year two. Mediacom’s price hike isn’t bad by cable internet standards, but I get it if it still grinds your gears.

Need even cheaper internet? Mediacom’s Xtream Connect program offers 100 Mbps download speeds for only $14.99 monthly. But you’ll need to be enrolled in a qualifying government assistance program like SNAP or Medicaid to qualify for this discounted internet rate.

Visit Mediacom to apply for Xtream Connect, and read our Low-Income Internet Guide to learn more about subsidized internet programs.

Mediacom’s best TV plan for seniors

TV package Price Channel count Popular channels
Variety TV Add $136.02/mo. 170+ Cartoon Network, HISTORY, ESPN

Data effective as of post date. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change.

We’ll start this section off with a footnote. If you have a TV that can download apps, has a high-definition picture, or includes an antenna port, we’d recommend looking elsewhere for TV service.

Mediacom’s cable TV plans cost well past $100 per month, and the provider placed popular channels like ESPN and HGTV behind its premium Variety TV plan. Live TV streaming services like YouTube TV and Hulu Live offer comparable channel counts for much less per month.

But if you’re dead set on cable TV or can’t physically place an antenna around your home, we’ll recommend Variety TV as Mediacom’s best cable TV plan for seniors. It won’t come cheap, as you’ll need to bundle it with Xtream internet, but Variety TV offers the most complete mix of popular cable channels.

Want phone service? Mediacom offers landline and cell phone service, but you’ll need to bundle it with other Mediacom services. Landline phone service costs an additional $10 per month, while Mediacom Mobile’s budget plan costs $20.
