Key dates for the 2026 Rockies season

The season is long and could potentially feel longer for the Colorado Rockies. To help you pace yourself, I’ve broken down a few key stretches and events to watch for as the 2026 season rolls along.

• Home Opener (April 3): The Rockies go back home for a series against the Philadelphia Phillies after spending the first week of the season on the road.
• NL West matchups: The most important games for the Rockies are against the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks, and San Francisco Giants. The back half of May features 13 games against divisional opponents, and the Rockies play 10 straight division games before the All-Star break.
• MLB All-Star Week (July 11–14): Because MLB rules dictate that every team must have at least one representative, you’re guaranteed to see at least one Rockies player take the field at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. If a young star gets hot in the first half of the season, you might even see a Colorado jersey in the Home Run Derby.
• MLB Trade Deadline (Aug. 3): If the Rockies are losing a lot, they could trade away some of their established veterans to acquire young prospects and build for the franchise’s future.
