Key dates for the 2026 Mets season
The Mets, like every other MLB team, have a long season ahead of them. But there are some important stretches fans should look out for. I’ve highlighted some of them below.
- Home Opener (March 26): Opening Day coincides with the home opener for the Mets against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
- NL East matchups: Fans will want to pay close attention to series against the Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies, and Washington Nationals. The back halves of May and September consist mostly of games against divisional opponents.
- MLB All-Star Week (July 11–14): Four Mets made the All-Star team last year. If the team does well in 2026, expect another good number of representatives at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
- MLB Trade Deadline (Aug. 3): The Mets seem to have weird seasons. It’ll be interesting to watch them before the deadline to see what kind of roster moves they make.
Best Citi Field promotional nights in 2026
I’ve only ever been to a concert at Citi Field, but I’ve heard a lot about how awesome Mets games are there. It got me thinking about which dates on the Mets promotional schedule I’d attend.
In 2026, there are four dates that really stand out to me. I’ve got my eye on Queens Culture Day (April 25), Italian Heritage Night (May 13), Black Legacy Night (June 24), and the 1986 World Series Reunion & Celebration on August 1.

New York Mets TV schedule FAQ
How many games are on the Mets' schedule?
The New York Mets will play 162 games during the 2026 regular season. But if they qualify for the playoffs, that number will increase.
Who are the Mets' biggest rivals?
Cynical fans might argue the Mets are their own worst enemy, but their actual biggest rivals are NL East foes like the Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves. The Mets also share a heated cross-town interleague rivalry with the New York Yankees.
How long does a Mets game last?
Mets games typically last between two and a half and three hours. While the pitch clock has definitely helped speed things up, high-scoring innings, frequent pitching changes, and the ABS Challenge System can still extend the game's overall length.
What time do Mets home games start?
The first pitch for Mets home games is typically 7:10 p.m. ET on weekdays, 4:10 p.m. ET on Saturdays, and 1:40 p.m. ET on Sundays. But watch out for weekday getaway games and national broadcasts that alter this schedule.
