Key dates for the 2026 Pirates season
This season will be long, but also very interesting for the Pittsburgh Pirates. To cut through some of the noise, I broke out a few stretches and dates that could really matter for the Pirates in 2026.
- Home Opener (April 3): After a few road games to start the season, the Pirates play the Baltimore Orioles at home.
- NL Central matchups: The games that will matter most will come against the Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Chicago Cubs.
- MLB All-Star Week (July 11–14): Skenes was a shoo-in for last year’s All-Star Game. He could make it again and potentially be joined by a teammate or two this year at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
- MLB Trade Deadline (Aug. 3): The Pirates already had a busy offseason. But don’t be surprised if they make some deadline moves if they feel they’re one or two players away from a postseason run.
Best PNC Park promotional nights in 2026
PNC Park is already widely considered an eye-catching ballpark. Beyond the scenery, the promotional calendar for the Pirates looks great this year if you’re a fan who likes to make it out to home games.
The Pirates Band T-Shirt Giveaway (May 2), Soccer Night (June 27), and Kids Backpack Giveaway (Sept. 6) are all dates that stand out to me. Also, the Pirates will host multiple Pup Nights throughout the season, meaning you can actually bring your furry best friend along to catch a game.
