This week’s “What To Watch” picks include a flick about feisty ballerinas and a series about a wannabe Bond (Prime Video), a new series from “Stranger Things” creators the Duffer Brothers (Netflix), and the fifth season of Apple TV‘s space-colonization drama “For All Mankind.”
Additionally, we recommend Netflix’s Nordic noir series “Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole,” the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again” (Disney+), and the film “Sirât” on video-on-demand (VOD). Let’s hit the couch!
New on Disney+ this week
“Daredevil: Born Again” | Disney+ | Action, drama
Movie, Tuesday, Mar. 24, 6pm PT: The story that started on Netflix returns for its second reboot season on Disney+. From the release sked: “Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home.” This season Krysten Ritter rejoins the cast as Jessica Jones (woot!), along with Quentin Tarantino’s favorite thespian, Matthew Lillard (double woot!).
New on Prime Video this week
“Bait” | Prime Video | Comedy, drama
Series premiere, Wednesday, March 25: Struggling actor Shah Latif (Oscar and Emmy winner Riz Ahmed, “Sound of Metal”) has a rare opportunity: He’s landed an audition for the starring role in the next James Bond movie. Over the next four days, his life spirals out of control while everyone in his life shares their opinions on whether or not he fits the part. All six episodes are available to stream on Prime Video starting today.
New on Prime Video this week
“Pretty Lethal” | Prime Video | Action, thriller
Movie, Wednesday, March 25: Do you like a bit of culture in your action-packed, ass-kickin’ movies? Well, slip on your pointe shoes (ballet slippers, for the philistines out there) and stretch well. You’ll wanna be limber enough to deliver some graceful face kicks alongside the five frenemy ballerinas (Iris Apatow, Lana Condor, Millicent Simmonds, Avantika, and Maddie Ziegler) at the center of this story. When their bus poops out—conveniently—near a roadside inn run by a reclusive former ballet prodigy (Uma Thurman), the young dancers must band together and fight for their lives.
New on Netflix this week
“Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” | Netflix | Horror
Series premiere, Thursday, March 26: You know, I’ve had this feeling that, that something— Siiiiigh. I apologize; suddenly words elude me. Let’s just spill the deets about this new Duffer Brothers–produced (“Stranger Things”) show on Netflix, where something, uh . . . something . . . Oh, yeah. Five days away from their wedding, something very bad—actually a whole series of unfortunate events—happens to a couple (Adam DiMarco, Camila Morrone), upsetting the impending nuptials. All that teasing, plus its producers and creator (“Brand New Cherry Flavor” writer Haley Z. Boston), makes this an attractive binge prospect this week.
P.S. I remembered what I was gonna say! Hey, Duffer Bros. and Netflix: Booooooooo on not delivering with “The Talisman” adaptation. Boo. Hiss. I knew something very bad was going to happen.

New on Netflix this week
“Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole” | Netflix | Drama
Series premiere, Thursday, March 26: Dig that Scandinavian vowel, Nordic noir fans! That’s your first clue that you’re in for another frigid—nay, frøzen!—crime thriller. This one adapts Jo Nesbø’s series of novels about an Oslo police detective called, um, Harry Hole (Tobias Santelmann). In this first series, antihero Hole must chase down a serial killer while contending with a dirty fellow cop played by Joel Kinnaman (“The Killing”). If the premise sounds familiar, it’s because this story’s been filmed before (see the 2017 film “The Snowman”). All nine episodes hit Netflix today.

New on Apple TV this week
“For All Mankind” | Apple TV | Science fiction, drama
Season 5 premiere, Friday, March 27: Well, hey! We’re writing about another Joel Kinnaman show. Now in its fifth season, this series ponders what would’ve happened had the space race continued, leading to the colonization of Mars and plans to do even deeper into the solar system. I haven’t seen this one yet, but I plan to binge it soon, so I’m trying to avoid spoilers here by summarizing Apple TV’s teaser: The new season starts a few years after the fourth season’s ending. The colony is thriving, future space-travel plans are in motion, and there’s a need for law and order on Mars. Apple TV drops the first of 10 episodes today, with the rest coming weekly.
New movie releases available to rent/buy on VOD this week
“Sirât” (2025) | Drama, thriller
Nominated for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards, this Spanish thriller lost out to “Sentimental Value” (which was also nominated for Best Picture). It’s gotten universal raves (91% on Rotten Tomatoes) and people are gobsmacked by the brutal, suspenseful story of a man searching for his daughter in Morocco. It also has our managing editor’s seal of approval—a helluva accolade. You can rent “Sirât” from video-on-demand (VOD) outlets like Prime Video, Google Movies & TV, and Fandango at Home (formerly VUDU) as of Tuesday, March 24.
