How T-Mobile 5G Home Internet’s trial works
T-Mobile’s generous when it comes to Internet Test Drive’s fine print, as you’ll qualify for the trial period on any Home Internet or Business Internet plan. (That said, Internet Test Drive isn’t available on T-Mobile’s lower-end Internet Lite for Metro prepaid plans.)
If you signed up for T-Mobile in person, your 15-day trial clock will start when a T-Mobile agent activates your account and you leave the store. But if you ordered T-Mobile internet online or over the phone, your trial begins once T-Mobile ships your gateway.
Of course, it wouldn’t be 2025 without a little bit of fine-print trickery. If you decide to cancel service before your 15 days are up, T-Mobile will issue a bill credit to cover any charges. But if your card was charged before this credit gets issued, you’ll have to wait 30 days for a refund to arrive via mail. (Long story short: Expect to wait for your refund credit if T-Mobile 5G’s not a fit for your household.)
Still, you won’t have any service limitations during your trial period. You’ll get the maximum T-Mobile download speeds in your area, along with standard features like unlimited data and full 5G gateway functionality. Pretty nice, huh?

- Call T-Mobile to cancel your service. Note that you can’t fully cancel your service in store. According to T-Mobile customer support, T-Mobile stores can handle equipment returns, but you or an in-store agent need to contact T-Mobile’s support line to deactivate your service.
- Return your T-Mobile 5G Gateway along with other T-Mobile equipment to avoid non-return fees.
- T-Mobile will issue a bill credit that’ll be applied within or after 30 days, depending on when you canceled your 5G home internet service.
