Amazon Prime Day Deals 2020: TVs, Streaming Devices, and More

We looked at dozens of Prime Day deals and picked the ones that’ll help you get quality TV and internet on the cheap.

Amazon Prime Day has finally arrived on October 13 and 14 just in time to get ahead of the holiday shopping season.

Here at CableTV.com we specialize in all things TV and internet, so our team has put together a list of Prime Day deals on some of our favorite products.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Prime Day is an official sale day sponsored by Amazon on its website. It started in 2015 and usually takes place in July.

In 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Prime Day has been moved to October 13 and 14. Like last year, it will last two days instead of one.

To get Prime Day deals, you must be an Amazon Prime member.

Amazon Prime Day Smart TV deals

All-New Toshiba 50LF621U21 50″ Smart 4K UHD – Fire TV Edition

Price: $249.99 (Originally $369.99)

Resolution: 4K UHD

Supported streaming services: Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, YouTube

Amazon.com Price: $249.99 (as of 10/13/20 10:15 MST). Read full disclaimer.

This is one of the better 4K TV deals we’ve seen this year during Prime Day. 50-inch screen, 4K resolution, and Alexa integration for $250? We say go for the Toshiba 50LF621U21 50-inch Smart 4K UHD.

Sony HT-S350 Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer

Price: $248.99 (Originally $279.99)

Features:

  • S-Force Pro sound technology
  • Bluetooth enabled
  • HDMI compatible

Amazon.com Price: $248.99 (as of 10/13/20 10:15 MST). Read full disclaimer.

Even on sale for $248.99, we realize that it’s not the cheapest soundbar on the market, but the Sony HTS350 Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer packs a punch for the price. For context, comparable soundbars typically sell for upwards of $300.

And we really like that the wireless subwoofer can help alleviate needless clutter around your entertainment system. (Who likes wires anyway?) If you’re looking to upgrade your smart TV audio, we highly recommend this deal.

Expired early Prime Day TV deals

All-New Toshiba 43LF421U21 43” HD 1080p TV – Fire TV Edition

Price: $179.99 (Originally $279.99)

Resolution: HD 1080p

Supported streaming services: Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube

Amazon.com Price: $179.99 (as of 10/5/20 10:15 MST). Read full disclaimer.

At $179.99, the all-new Toshiba 43LF421U21 43-inch smart TV is a pretty good deal compared to similar Toshiba Fire TV models that cost around $200.00–$280.00.

A very similar model, in fact, made our best dorm room TVs list this year. These smart TVs are great for integrating free over-the-air TV with all your streaming apps like Netflix.

This deal is a part of early Prime Day deals, so if you feel moved, act on it now.

Toshiba TF-55A810U21 55″ 4K UHD TV – Fire TV Edition

Price: $299.99 (Originally $449.99)

Resolution: 4K UHD

Supported streaming services: Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube

Amazon.com Price: $299.99 (as of 10/6/20 10:15 MST). Read full disclaimer.

If you’re looking for a 4K TV, we think that the Toshiba TF-55A810U21 55-inch 4K UHD TV is a pretty good early Prime Day deal. $150 off a highly rated 4K TV? Sign us up.

Sure you’ll pay a little more for that resolution upgrade and that larger screen size, but the devil is in the details—especially if you already have a Blu-ray player.

Amazon Prime Day DVR deals

A good DVR can be pretty hard to find these days. (We may or may not have an unhealthy relationship to TV here at CableTV.com.) But we did find at least one pretty good deal during Prime Day.

Amazon Fire TV Recast

Price: $179.99 (Regular price: $279.99)

Features:

  • 4 tuners
  • 1 TB
  • 150 hrs.

Amazon.com Price: $179.99 (as of 10/13/20 10:15 MST). Read full disclaimer.

Currently, the Amazon Fire TV Recast is on sale for $179, which means you’ll save $100 if you buy it during Prime Day.

In fact, we named the Amazon Fire TV Recast as our best over-the-air DVR this year, so we’re fans. If you’re looking for an affordable DVR to record free local channels like ABC and FOX, we think this is a good time to snag Fire TV Recast.

Amazon Prime Day streaming deals

Looking forward to some bomb-ass deals on all the new Amazon Fire TV streaming devices? Well, we got ’em. Also, we dug up a couple of Prime Day deals for on-demand streaming.

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K

Price: $29.99 (originally $49.99)

Features:

  • Includes Alexa Voice Remote
  • Live news and sports w/ subscriptions to Sling TV, YouTube TV, and others
  • 20,000+ free movies and TV shows

Amazon.com Price: $29.99 (as of 10/13/20 10:15 MST). Read full disclaimer.

Amazon claims that the new Fire TV 4K Stick is 50% more powerful than the previous generation. We’re not sure how they calculated that number, but we do know there’s at least one significant improvement: Dolby Atmos sound.

And for $29.99, you really have no excuse not to hop on this deal.

We really liked the previous generation of the Amazon Fire TV Stick because of its affordable price, Alexa remote, and boatloads of streaming content. We think the 2020 version will also treat our readers right as well.

Amazon Fire TV Cube

Price: $79.99 (originally $119.99)

Features:

  • Includes Alexa Voice Remote
  • 4K Ultra HD
  • Live news and sports w/ subscriptions to Sling TV, YouTube TV, and others

Amazon.com Price: $79.99 (as of 10/13/20 10:15 MST). Read full disclaimer.

Amazon’s Fire TV Cube is one of the most dynamic streaming devices available, a fast and furious little square that features hands-free Alexa Voice Control (plus Alexa smart home integration), 4K Ultra HD resolution, and Ethernet internet capability.

Even at its regular price of $119.99, the Fire TV Cube is a deal—at its Prime Day price of $79.99 ($40.00 off), it’s a steal. Note that this is the 2019 model, but it’s still a killer streaming device.

Save up to 50% on shows and movies

In the lead up to Prime Day, Amazon is heavily discounting a ton of popular shows and movies on Prime Video. Deals include Rick and Morty season 4 for $9.99 and renting Crazy Rich Asians for $1.99.

In our opinion, however, the real jewels are to be unearthed in the streaming channels on sale. Adding Lifetime Movies Now for $0.99 per month for the first two months is a great deal, for example.

Sundance Now for $0.99 per month for the first two months is another streaming-channel deal worth snagging.

If you don’t already have Prime Video, read our expert review and see if it’s right for you.

Amazon Kids+ (formerly FreeTime Unlimited)

During early Prime Day deals, you can sign up for three months of Amazon Kids+ for just $0.99 per month. Since this is a newer service, we can’t say much about it, but it looks mostly like a great way to supplement your Prime Video library with kid kookiness.

Brass tacks: your quarantined kids are probably in dire need of kid-friendly content, and Amazon Kids+ has tons of shows (including Disney Channel and PBS Kids shows), movies, games, and books. For under a buck a month, we certainly think Amazon Kids+ is worth trying out.

Hop on it, though, because this Amazon Prime Day deal ends on October 12.

$5 Prime Day credit

This early Prime Day deal is a no-brainer: watch any video included with Prime Video and get a $5 Prime Day credit. So, basically, instead of paying for a VOD rental, you’ll get paid to watch a video.

Of course, you have to be an Amazon Prime member to participate. But if you have any doubts about Prime membership, we highly recommend the service if not just for the original shows and movies on Prime Video.

New 2020 Amazon TV and internet products

Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite

If you wanna save a little cash and get very similar features to the regular Fire TV Stick, Amazon has another new streaming device for you: the Amazon Fire Stick Lite.

The main differences between the regular Fire Stick and Fire Stick Lite are the remote (no TV controls) and Dolby Atmos compatibility (Fire Stick Lite doesn’t have it).

That said, if you’re on a tight budget, Amazon Fire Stick Lite looks a-okay to us.

eero 6

Price: $229.00

Features:

  • Covers up to 2,000 sq. ft.
  • Wi-Fi speeds up to a gig
  • Support for 75+ devices simultaneously

Amazon.com Price: $229.00 (as of 10/5/20 10:15 MST). Read full disclaimer.

Coming out hot in 2020 is the eero 6 mesh Wi-Fi system. At $229, the eero 6 isn’t a bad deal for folks who have larger homes and need Wi-Fi in every nook and cranny.

And if you’re an Alexa aficionado, eero 6 will let you control more than 75 compatible smart home devices, which is probably on par with the home in the Disney Channel classic Smart House—just sayin’.

If you already have a Wi-Fi router you like and you’renot feeling smart home automation, may we suggest checking out an affordable Wi-Fi extender before spending nearly $300 on a mesh Wi-Fi system.

eero 6 Pro

Now, if going for the gold is your thing, then you might be interested in Amazon’s new eero 6 Pro. It comes with pretty much everything as the regular eero 6, but it gives you another 600 square feet of Wi-Fi coverage and comes with an Amazon Fire TV Cube.

At $599, the eero 6 Pro isn’t for everyone. But with the added bonus of the Fire TV Cube, it might be worth it for some smart home fanatics and high rollers.
