Netflix has been the be-all-end-all streaming service for what feels like decades at this point. Whether it’s original content or some of the most popular movies and TV shows, it’s winning the streaming wars in a way no other service has been able to meaningfully compete with.
Netflix’s one blind spot, though, has been live sports. Other streamers like Peacock and Amazon Prime Video have cornered the market on the NFL and, soon, the NBA.
But that doesn’t mean the worldwide leader in streaming is a sports wasteland. Read on to find out what live sports Netflix does offer, and what could be on the horizon in the coming months and years.
Watch WWE Raw live every week on Netflix
Netflix got serious about live sports in 2025 when it made the deal with WWE to showcase Monday Night Raw every week. The partnership will last for at least the next 10 years and is reportedly worth $10 billion.
What’s cool about this is it works for two types of wrestling fans: the kind that love appointment viewing, and the kind that like to watch in their own time. Monday Night Raw being on Netflix means replays for every week’s event are available at any time. So, in a way, it doesn’t have to be Monday Night Raw. It can be Wednesday Night Raw After the Kids Are Asleep. Or, Saturday Night Raw During the Weekly Poker Game.

In addition to the live Raw events, Netflix also features various types of WWE programming. You watch Raw episodes from as early as 1993, and the documentary series WWE: Unreal premieres July 29, 2025.
Watch special live coverage of boxing, NFL on Christmas, and FIFA Women’s World Cup on Netflix
If professional wrestling isn’t your vibe, Netflix offers other sporting events that happen on more of an occasional basis. Those events are largely in the worlds of NFL football and professional boxing.
In 2024, Jake Paul fought Mike Tyson live on Netflix. A whopping 108 million people watched that fight, making it the “most streamed global sporting event ever,” per the service.
Due to that event’s success, Netflix will air two more live boxing events in 2025. The first comes on July 11 between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, who have fought twice before and had a bout before Paul and Tyson faced off. In September, Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford are fighting.

Aside from boxing, Netflix has also had success airing live NFL games on Christmas. The service started in 2024 and will continue this year with two games. The NFL and Netflix’s partnership for Christmas Day games runs through 2026.
Speaking of future live sports on Netflix, the streamer also made a deal to exclusively carry the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027 and 2031. Women’s soccer, buoyed by the massive success and talent of the U.S. Women’s National Team, has grown in popularity in recent years. A run on Netflix could significantly bolster viewership.
And there might be more live sports on the horizon. Both UFC and F1 have been connected to Netflix for a potential move to the streaming service.

Netflix features a plethora of sports documentaries
You probably don’t need to hear this, but sports isn’t just limited to what’s going on right this second. Part of what’s compelling about sports is the personalities involved, the thrill of winning and agony of defeat, and the storylines that endure for multiple seasons, years, or even decades.
That’s where Netflix’s cornucopia of sports docs comes in.

There are award-winning offerings such as Icarus, The Last Dance, and Drive to Survive. There’s the Untold series chronicling various high-profile moments or people in sports history—from the Malice at the Palace, to the Michigan football sign-stealing controversy, to steroids in Major League Baseball. Then there’s, of course, ESPN’s 30 for 30 series.
To sum up, there are documentaries for fans of any sport that will entertain you, challenge you, inspire you, and make you think.
