Xfinity Pricing: Are You Paying Too Much?

Here's what you need to know about price increases if you're a longtime Xfinity TV or internet customer.

Xfinity’s reputation as a service provider goes without saying. With a nationwide footprint that services more than 31 million customers, Xfinity is one of the biggest internet and TV providers around. But at the same time, Xfinity’s reputation can be inconsistent when it comes to the price increases and cost issues that plague other cable providers.
But what’s real or fiction when it comes to Xfinity’s reputation on price hikes? As part of CableTV.com’s annual Customer Satisfaction Survey series, we interview hundreds of real-life Xfinity internet and TV customers across the nation to see what they think about their service costs. On top of that, we’ve spent years tracking Xfinity costs as part of our coverage of Xfinity TV and internet pricing.

Cable internet subscribers generally tolerate their provider at most, but Xfinity has a few notable upsides when it comes to internet pricing. Notably, Xfinity is one of the few internet service providers (ISPs) with base pricing starting at under $50 monthly. While Xfinity has yet to join the flat-rate pricing club—you’ll be subject to a hike once your price guarantee ends—it’s a nice concession to buyers who don’t want to break the bank on internet service.

As for its full-channel cable TV plans, you’ll pay a decent amount for live TV. But in a sign of how much cable TV costs these days, Xfinity’s pricing is in the same ballpark as competitors like Spectrum and Cox.

Has Xfinity increased its internet and TV prices?

Xfinity hasn’t been immune to the market trends we’ve tracked in our internet pricing and Xfinity cable TV coverage, though it’s approached them in different ways.

Xfinity’s internet prices are technically higher because the provider upgraded its base download speeds last year. For instance, Xfinity’s base plan went up from 100 to 300 Mbps, so you’ll get more Mbps per dollar for your home. (That said, Xfinity’s certainly making more by hiking its starting price from $19.99 to $40.00 monthly, though they still service the budget market with their NOW prepaid plans.)

However, there’s little we can do to pretty up the hockey-stick curve in Xfinity’s cable TV prices. Between rising broadcast fees and cord-cutting, cable TV providers are charging more (and getting into carriage fights) to keep the lights on. (And good luck avoiding similar fights if you want to move into full-time streaming.)

What do customers think of Xfinity’s prices?

As part of our annual internet and cable TV Customer Satisfaction surveys, we talk to hundreds of Xfinity customers to understand how they feel about their service.

Remember how we said the ceiling for most cable internet customers is “just tolerating their ISP?” Traditionally, we consider 70% approval to be a passing mark in our polling. Xfinity’s price satisfaction scores are nothing to write home about, but they were also the best among the major cable ISPs.

Question Rating

Given the quality of your internet services, how would you rate Xfinity's internet prices? 66% approval
Given competitors' prices, how would you rate Xfinity's internet prices? 61% approval

They increased my payments until I complained. They didn't do anything to justify the increase.

-Joe G., Xfinity customer in Virginia

Xfinity subscribers felt similarly nonplussed about their cable TV service. Xfinity’s scores were mostly fine, though Xfinity’s solid user experience helped it crack the top three in TV quality when compared to pricing satisfaction. That said, Xfinity’s pricing relative to competitors was the only field in which it fell drastically behind Spectrum and Cox.

Question Rating
Given your initial expectations, how would you rate Xfinity's TV prices? 69% approval

Xfinity’s prices are tight against inflation

Xfinity median-tier internet price Inflation-adjusted cost
2022 $39.99 $46.26
2023 $25.00 $27.18
2024 $35.00 $36.91
2025 $55.00 $56.31

Xfinity’s internet price history is a slight outlier among ISPs due to the provider’s frequent promotions, price changes, and plan revisions. But generally, they’ve hewed tightly to inflationary and market trends. Other factors, like bundle options, fees, or increased internet usage, may inflate your bill, but internet prices typically trend downward.

Xfinity median-tier TV price Inflation-adjusted cost
2022 $50.00 $57.84
2023 $50.00 $54.36
2024 $50.00 $52.73
2025 $95.00 $97.27

Outside of 2025’s massive price jump, Xfinity’s TV prices followed a similar trajectory as its internet pricing.

As we mentioned before, carriage fee disputes are increasingly common among cable TV providers—Xfinity’s feuds in 2025 alone included multiple regional sports networks and Disney. Your dollar isn’t necessarily getting weaker with Xfinity over time, but it’s likely cold comfort if you’re having to swallow yet another Xfinity cable TV price hike.
