Everyone needs internet, TV, and phone service, and that goes twofold if you’re a senior who’s shopping for plans for the first time. You don’t want to miss out on grandchild updates, family phone calls, or the latest episode of the new Matlock reboot because of a shaky internet or TV connection.
But for seniors, I understand if the prospect of learning about internet plans, download speeds, and contract fine print feels nerve-wracking. (And as someone who does tech support for their older family members, I get it if figuring out the differences between Wi-Fi and internet makes you want to shout, “Why!?!”)
If you’re a senior who’s shopping for Xfinity services and unsure where to start, never fear! I dug into the details of Xfinity’s internet, TV, and phone plans to get you everything you need to know before signing up.

For seniors, my picks for the best Xfinity senior internet plans are its NOW Internet prepaid service and the Connect More plan.
Unlike Xfinity’s standard internet plans, NOW Internet doesn’t stick you with a long ole contract, rental fees, credit checks, or a price hike. Instead, you’ll pay one flat rate for internet service every month—your price won’t increase after 12 or 24 months.
If you live alone or with a partner, I recommend NOW Internet’s 100 Mbps plan, which offers fast-enough 100 Mbps download speeds for only $30 a month. If you’re occasionally hosting grandkids or other family, I’d recommend upgrading to NOW Internet’s 200 Mbps plan for an additional $15.00 monthly.
Want to watch cable TV or purchase additional Xfinity services? In this case, you’ll need to upgrade to a standard Xfinity plan like Connect More, which has a starting price of $55.00/mo. for 5 years.
I think Connect More is an excellent fit for seniors because it’s Xfinity’s entry-level internet plan and offers fast speeds for your family and the grandkids. But you’ll pay extra if you want to avoid an Xfinity price increase—the plan costs $40 per month for a one-year price guarantee or $55 monthly for a longer five-year guarantee. (But remember, you can cancel service at any time with either guarantee, because you won’t have to sign a contract.)
Still need more savings? Xfinity’s Internet Essentials program offers subsidized internet plans that start at only $14.95 per month. That said, your household needs to be enrolled in an eligible government assistance program like Medicaid to qualify for the program.

Don’t want to miss the local news? My top Xfinity TV plans for seniors are the NOW TV prepaid plan, as well as Choice TV and Popular TV.
If you’re used to regular cable TV equipment, I’d recommend sticking with Choice or Popular TV. Both plans rely on Xfinity’s standard cable box and voice-controlled remote, so you won’t need to learn how to use new hardware. Choice TV is a slim package that exclusively features local channels, while Popular TV is a starter basic cable package that features standard channels like ESPN, CNN, and Disney Channel.
Although you can get Choice TV’s channels for free with an antenna, I think most seniors will prefer Xfinity’s convenience over having to tinker with an antenna. (I know I wouldn’t love having to adjust those antenna pads every time a storm comes through during a Detroit Lions game.)
NOW TV offers a sizable 125+ channel count for only $20.00 monthly. But you’ll need to pair it with a prepaid NOW Internet plan, and it doesn’t include channels like ESPN and ABC. You’ll also have to use the Xfinity Stream app instead of a regular cable TV box—it may be a poor fit if you’ve never used streaming systems like Roku, Google TV, or Apple TV.

Does Xfinity have senior discounts?
Unfortunately, Xfinity doesn’t have a standard senior discount on any of its plans. You won’t save any money on your internet, TV, or phone bill simply for being at least 65 years old.
That said, this doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to save some money on your Xfinity bill.
