Whether it’s FaceTime nights or phone calls with the grandkids, every senior wants a way to keep up with their family. But especially these days, I know how tricky it can be to find a cell phone setup that won’t blow a hole in your budget with extra fees and service charges.
Xfinity is one of the nation’s biggest internet service providers (ISPs) and offers a strong catalog of phone, internet, and TV plans for households. Additionally, Xfinity Mobile is Xfinity’s cell phone service, offering affordable plans exclusively to Xfinity internet subscribers.
Whether you’re a prospective or current Xfinity shopper, I did the work to investigate Xfinity’s cell phone options. Here’s what you need to know if you’re a senior shopping for cell phone service through Xfinity.
Xfinity senior cell phone options
Unlike senior-focused carriers, Xfinity Mobile doesn’t necessarily offer plans or phones tailored for older shoppers. For instance, you can’t purchase hardware like flip phones or medical alert devices through Xfinity Mobile. But in most cases, you can bring your own smartphone if it was manufactured within the past few years.
Prefer to get a new phone? You’ll have plenty of senior-friendly cell phone options if you’re planning to buy a new phone through Xfinity Mobile. Visit your local Xfinity store to try out these phones in person.
- Are you tech-savvy? Xfinity Mobile offers the latest phones from top manufacturers including Apple, Samsung, and Google. You’ll get the best grandkid photos with their high-end cameras and sharp screens.
- Only need a phone for calls? We’d recommend mid-range models like the Samsung Galaxy A26 or Motorola Moto G Stylus. Both models cost less than $300 and offer great features like large screens and 5G support for faster internet speeds
- Working under a budget? Phones like the Samsung Galaxy A16, Motorola Moto G, and Moto G Play don’t have many bells and whistles. But with pricing under $200, they’ll be great for seniors who don’t need to spend much on a new phone.

Xfinity senior phone features
Worried that your new smartphone won’t have the senior-friendly features you’re looking for? Every smartphone sold by Xfinity Mobile offers hearing aid support out of the box, so you’ll be set if you rely on a hearing aid.
New smartphones also offer standard support for accessibility features, although the steps to enable them vary by phone operating system. (Take advantage of some hands-on phone time at your local Xfinity store if you’re uncomfortable navigating a new smartphone menu.)
Let’s break down a few of the senior-friendly accessibility features you’ll find with an Xfinity Mobile smartphone.
Screen reader support
Screen reader apps, such as Apple VoiceOver and Google TalkBack, use your phone’s speaker to describe text and other on-screen elements on your phone—they’re designed for users with sight limitations. On Apple, Samsung, Google, or Motorola devices, you can enable this under your phone’s Settings menu.
Hearing aid compatibility
Virtually every modern smartphone offers hearing aid compatibility (HAC), so you’ll be set if your phone was made within the past five years. Xfinity’s stores also list whether or not a phone supports HAC on their product cards.
Visit Xfinity Mobile’s site to confirm hearing aid support for your smartphone.
Real-time text (RTT)
RTT enables users to instantly send messages to others without waiting for a response. Most smartphones have RTT support, but older Samsung Galaxy Note and Motorola moto phones may lack RTT compatibility.
Xfinity’s best cell phone plan for seniors
| Xfinity Mobile plan | Monthly price (single line) | Data allowance | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| NOW Mobile Unlimited | $25.00/mo.* | 20GB | View Plan |
Data effective as of November 09, 2025. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change.
*Xfinity internet or NOW required. Speeds will be reduced after 20 GB, depending on your data plan. Unlimited Intro data may be temporarily slower than other traffic in times of congestion.
For seniors, my pick for the best Xfinity cell phone plan is NOW Mobile.
NOW Mobile is Xfinity’s prepaid cell phone service, and it’s exclusively for Xfinity or NOW internet subscribers. For seniors who simply need a cell phone for phone calls, NOW Mobile offers the best mix of value and call coverage—you’ll get standard features like mobile internet along with unlimited calls and texts.
Best of all, you’ll only pay $25 per month for 20 GB of monthly cellular data. Unless you’re watching YouTube videos or TV shows every day on your phone, most seniors won’t come close to hitting this cap. Xfinity Mobile was also one of the top performers in our annual customer satisfaction survey, so you’ll get high-quality phone service that won’t leave you out in the cold.
But keep in mind that NOW Mobile is slightly different than Xfinity Mobile. Xfinity Mobile offers additional features, such as free coverage in Mexico and Canada, but it also costs more per month (starting at $40/mo.) than NOW Mobile. For most seniors, we think the cost savings on NOW Mobile are worth the trade-off in features.
At your local Xfinity store, you can also purchase the latest phones from companies like Apple, Samsung, and Motorola with features like large screens and hearing aid compatibility. If your smartphone was made within the past five years, you’ll likely be able to bring it over to Xfinity Mobile.
Does Xfinity have senior discounts?
Xfinity doesn’t offer senior discounts, so you’ll be out of luck if you were expecting savings through an organization like AARP. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t save any money on your Xfinity bill.
Here are a few of our favorite Xfinity discounts—check out my colleague Logan’s Xfinity deals guide for even more current Xfinity deals.
- Veterans and active military service members can get Xfinity’s military deals, which include free NOW TV, discounted phone fees, and a free Xfinity Mobile line for two years.
- Internet Essentials offers subsidized internet starting at $14.95/mo. for households enrolled in programs like Supplemental Security Income, Medicaid, or public housing assistance.
- Earn up to $500 when you refer friends to Xfinity internet or Xfinity Mobile.
- New Xfinity internet customers can get a free Xfinity Mobile line for one year.
