There are several questions surrounding the Boston Celtics heading into the 2025–2026 NBA season.
After winning the title in 2024, their star player, Jayson Tatum, tore his Achilles in the playoffs and is now likely to miss all of this upcoming season. On top of that, Jaylen Brown had knee surgery in the offseason, the team traded Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porziņģis, and they’ll likely lose Al Horford in free agency.
The Celtics are projected to win about 42 games this season, which, according to last year’s standings, would put them in the play-in tournament. But the Eastern Conference is weaker this year, so anything could happen if things break right.
Whether you’re a lifelong Celtics fan or a casual viewer, use my comprehensive viewing guide to make sure you don’t miss a beat. Keep reading for all the details on how to watch the Celtics on TV this season.
What channels have Boston Celtics games?
Boston Celtics games air nationally across ABC, ESPN, and NBA TV. New this season are NBC, Amazon Prime, and Peacock due to the NBA’s new media deal. For locally broadcasted games, fans within the Celtics’ home market need NBC Sports Boston, while out-of-market viewers can rely on NBA League Pass.
If you live far from New England, you may watch select games on your local NBA team’s TV affiliate when the Celtics come to town.
Boston Celtics 2025–2026 TV schedule
The Boston Celtics have a five-game road trip in late December, and a couple of four-game trips on top of that. But otherwise, Boston’s schedule looks pretty good at first glance from a travel standpoint.
But it’s all colored by Tatum not being on the court. Games that seemed winnable last season could be more contentious and maybe not go Boston’s way. Games that were gonna be challenging from tip-off could end up being losses. Without Tatum, there’s just no telling what Celtics team shows up, particularly early in the season.
The full 82-game season is below, and details what channels and services the Celtics will be on.

How to watch the Boston Celtics for free
*CableTV.com utilizes paid Amazon links. Amazon.com Price; $46.99 (as of 7/25/25 11:20 a.m. CT). Read full disclaimer.
You can watch the Boston Celtics for free when games air on ABC and NBC. You’ll need an over-the-air (OTA) antenna to pick up your local ABC and NBC stations, but it’s the only way to tune in without a TV subscription. On the plus side, ABC also carries the NBA Finals.
If you’re eager to watch more Celtics games for free, exploring live TV streaming trials is your next best bet. Services like DIRECTV STREAM and Fubo offer free trials. I prefer DIRECTV STREAM in this case because it carries every national NBA channel, plus NBC Sports Boston. But a free trial won’t cover more than a few games.
