The Washington Wizards tanked last season, but it worked. The team won the lottery and drafted AJ Dybantsa No. 1. The potential of Dybantsa alone is reason enough to watch the Wizards in 2026-2027.
The team still has Anthony Davis and Trey Young, and added Deandre Ayton in free agency. With that much talent, it stands to reason that the Wizards could win more than 17 games this year.
This is a franchise blending veteran savvy with rookie upside. The Wizards are making calculated moves that could lead to something special, and our guide has everything you need to watch every step of their journey.

What channels have Washington Wizards games?
You can watch the Washington Wizards in the Mid-Atlantic region on Monumental Sports Network, which is available through traditional cable and streaming providers. Fans outside Washington’s TV market can still follow the team through NBA League Pass, with national and local blackout restrictions applying based on your location.
This season, nationally televised Wizards games will appear on Amazon Prime Video and Peacock Premium. But you’ll also want ABC, ESPN, NBC, and NBA TV access to watch other high-profile NBA matchups.
Want radio coverage? The Washington Wizards offer full in-market radio coverage through Wizards Radio 24/7, available on the team’s app and website. Local fans can also tune in via the Wizards Radio Network, which includes stations like 980 AM WTEM and 1500 AM WFED.
2026-2027 Washington Wizards TV schedule
The Wizards are entering the new season with a lot to prove. After a few rebuilding years and roster reshuffles, Washington finally has a chance to test itself against a topsy-turvy Eastern Conference.
Washington has just at least 14 games on national TV this season despite the star talent on the roster. But fans from all over the country will want to follow the Wizards schedule somehow.

Best TV plans for watching the Washington Wizards
My top recommendation for Wizards fans is now DIRECTV. It’s one of the few live TV streaming services that carries Monumental Sports Network for all your local games, and it also includes all the essential national channels like ESPN and NBC. The only big change this season is that you can no longer add NBA League Pass directly through the service. You’ll now need to get that as a separate subscription through NBA.com or Amazon Prime Video.
Speaking of Prime Video, you’ll still need a base subscription to that and Peacock Premium for each service’s exclusive games. Fortunately, you can use the TV schedule above to plan your subscriptions strategically.
Standalone in-market TV package for Wizards games
Beyond live TV packages, local fans can also subscribe to Monumental Sports Network directly with a Monumental+ streaming subscription. For $19.99 per month or $179.99 per year, you get all in-market Wizards broadcasts and access to behind-the-scenes content.
Monumental+ also covers the Washington Mystics (WNBA), Washington Capitals (NHL), and other regional teams, so D.C. sports fans can stay fully connected. The app is available on most major streaming devices and comes packed with useful features like live stats and multiview.
How to watch the Washington Wizards for free
One of the easiest ways to watch Wizards games without paying is through free trial offers from streaming platforms like DIRECTV and YouTube TV. Each service carries national NBA networks, and most trials last up to a week, which is just enough to stream a few key matchups.
You can also tune into select NBA games on ABC and NBC using a digital antenna, an option that’s more valuable than ever with the league’s new TV deal. But an antenna is great for more than just basketball. Anyone living near local affiliate stations can get a ton of live sports coverage, ranging from NBA and WNBA games to NFL and NHL showdowns.
How to watch the Washington Wizards FAQ
Do I need cable to watch the Wizards on Monumental Sports Network?
No, you don’t need a cable subscription to watch Monumental Sports Network. You can stream the regional sports network through services like DIRECTV and Fubo. The channel is also available as a standalone subscription through Monumental+, which gives fans direct access to Wizards games without a traditional TV plan.
What’s the best streaming service for Washington Wizards games?
DIRECTV is one of the best TV providers for die-hard Wizards fans. It includes Monumental Sports Network for local coverage, along with national channels like ESPN, NBC, and NBA TV. Its base plans also come with unlimited DVR, making it easy to rewatch every game.
Can I watch Monumental+ when outside the viewing area?
No, you can't stream live Wizards games on Monumental+ if you're outside the D.C.-Baltimore region because of NBA blackout rules. While the app may still provide access to other content like pre-game shows and analysis, the live games themselves are strictly geo-restricted. Instead, you'll need NBA League Pass to catch out-of-market broadcasts.
Who’s the head coach for the Washington Wizards?
The Washington Wizards are coached by Brian Keefe, who was promoted to the permanent role in 2024 after serving as interim head coach. Keefe is known for his defensive schemes and strong background in player development, which the Wizards are leaning on as they continue their rebuild.
