Zion Williamson has had one of the most up-and-down careers that we’ve seen in quite some time with the New Orleans Pelicans. He’s had so much downtime due to injuries that we hardly got to see his strength, power, and athleticism on display. We all waited and waited for the core group to put it all together, but now, management has completely re-shaped the roster.
There’s no more Brandon Ingram or CJ McCollum, and we’re not exactly sure of what the team’s ceiling or identity is. Still, we’ve seen flashes of excellence between Williamson’s star power, Trey Murphy III’s growth, and the defensive toughness of Herbert Jones.
This offseason, New Orleans made a clear signal that they believe in the pieces they have. They added veteran frontcourt stability with the signing of Kevon Looney, along with promising rookie talent.
The front office is counting on Williamson staying healthy and the new supporting pieces stepping up. If it all clicks, New Orleans could be a real threat. To help you watch the Pelicans on their journey, I’ve created this complete guide to their TV schedule and viewing options.

What channels have New Orleans Pelicans games?
Most in-market Pelicans games air on the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network (GCSEN). The over-the-air network from Gray Media includes 14 affiliate stations across Louisiana and parts of Mississippi and Alabama.
National coverage for the Pelicans appears on ABC, ESPN, and NBC. You’ll also find a new slate of games streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video and Peacock.
If you’re outside the Gulf Coast region, NBA League Pass is the best option to watch out-of-market games. But keep in mind that local and national blackouts apply.
2025–2026 New Orleans Pelicans TV schedule
New Orleans enters the 2025–2026 season in “reset-and-conquer” mode. With Brandon Ingram gone, the Pelicans are re-centering around Zion Williamson, wing sniper Trey Murphy III, and All-Defense stopper Herb Jones. Meanwhile, guard Dejounte Murray is rehabbing a February Achilles tear, so his return timeline will shape early rotations.
The Pelicans added fresh pieces and significant depth during the offseason. They acquired Jordan Poole and Saddiq Bey via trade and signed Kevon Looney to bolster the frontcourt. Rookies Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen also give the backcourt and interior new energy. If Zion stays healthy and the wings keep stretching defenses, New Orleans has a real shot to climb the West standings.

Best TV plans for watching the New Orleans Pelicans
The NBA’s new media deal has definitely complicated things for fans this season. If you want to watch every game live, you’ll need separate subscriptions to Amazon Prime Video and Peacock for their exclusive games, and out-of-market fans will need NBA League Pass.
But for your core TV plan, I’ve broken down my two favorite options below. The first is a great standalone service for local fans, while the second is a more comprehensive live TV package. And don’t forget, most local Pelicans games are actually free with a solid antenna TV setup, which I cover in the Watch for Free section further down.

Pelicans+ ($14.99/mo.)
For fans in the New Orleans market who don’t want a complete live TV package, Pelicans+ is the dedicated option. At $14.99 per month or $99.99 for the whole season, it provides live access to 70+ locally televised Pelicans games on GCSEN, plus replays and team-produced programming.
The service runs through the NBA app, which supports a wide range of popular devices, including smart TVs, tablets, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and web browsers. It’s a clean and simple way to follow Zion and co. all season without needing a traditional cable package.

Stream with DIRECTV ($84.99–$164.99/mo.)
If you want one service that does it all, my top recommendation is DIRECTV. In a huge new development, the service now carries GCSEN for in-market fans. When you combine that with its excellent lineup of national channels (ABC, ESPN, NBC), you’re covered for all local Pelicans broadcasts and several primetime games.
DIRECTV is a costly service, but I’m a fan of its user experience as well. You get unlimited cloud DVR storage, an intuitive app, and a ton of other great channels to fill the void between game days. It’s a fantastic, premium package for any serious sports fan.
How to watch the New Orleans Pelicans for free
†CableTV.com utilizes paid Amazon links. Amazon.com Price; $46.99 (as of 7/25/25 11:20 a.m. CT). Read full disclaimer.
Your best and most reliable free viewing option is to use a digital antenna. In-market Pelicans fans can get almost every regular-season game with an antenna, thanks to GCSEN’s affiliate stations. You can also catch any national NBA matchups that air on ABC or NBC.
The antenna itself is a simple one-time purchase. To see which affiliate stations you’re within range of, I recommend using a tool like the FCC’s Reception Map Tool or Antenna Direct’s TV Transmitter Locator.
For national games on cable channels like ESPN, your best strategy is to use a live TV streaming free trial. Services like DIRECTV and Fubo often have five-day trial periods, giving you short-term access. Just remember to time your sign-up around a big game and cancel before the trial ends.
What channel is Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network?
Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network is the in-market TV home of the New Orleans Pelicans, taking over from the shuttered Bally Sports New Orleans. It’s not a single channel, but instead a collection of 14 over-the-air stations throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. For cord-cutters in the region, games are also available to stream on Pelicans+.
You can find the complete list of all 14 GCSEN affiliate stations in the drop-down menu below. If you live outside of these broadcast areas, you’ll need an NBA League Pass subscription to watch the GCSEN games.

How to watch the New Orleans Pelicans FAQ
Do I need cable to watch the Pelicans on GCSEN?
No, you don’t. GCSEN carries Pelicans games across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama on Gray Media affiliates like WVUE 8 (FOX) in New Orleans. You can access it with a basic digital antenna or through select streaming services.
Can I watch the Pelicans on NBA League Pass?
Yes, you can watch the New Orleans Pelicans on NBA League Pass only if you’re outside the Gulf South broadcast region. But you’ll still run into blackouts when games air nationally or locally, like when the Pelicans play your in-market team.
Who’s the head coach of the Pelicans?
As of the 2025–2026 season, the Pelicans are coached by Willie Green, who has been with the team since 2021. Under his leadership, New Orleans has built a defensive identity while developing young stars like Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III, and Herb Jones.
