The NBA on NBC has been absent from our lives since 2002. But the league’s coverage has finally returned! And because NBC has its own streaming service, Peacock is coming in hot with its own NBA action during the 2025–2026 season.
From marquee matchups to innovative and experimental analysis, Peacock is a layup that NBA fans can’t miss this season. As an NBA fan myself, I made this all-inclusive watch guide, so you can check out every game on Peacock and scope out the NBC Sports broadcast crew.
Why is the NBA on Peacock?
In 2024, the NBA finalized a new 11-year media deal that replaced TNT with NBC and Peacock. It also re-upped its relationship with ESPN and ABC, and added Amazon Prime Video.
The best part of the deal? The return of the famed “Roundball Rock” into our lives! And perhaps another SNL parody.
Peacock will stream nearly 100 regular-season games in 2025–2026, many of which will also air on NBC. Mondays will generally be reserved for Peacock exclusives.
One aspect I’m very excited about is Peacock will also stream NBA All-Star Weekend in February 2026. That’ll happen right in the middle of NBC Sports’ 2026 Winter Olympics coverage. Plus, there’s sure to be a slew of NBA postseason action on the streaming service.
Must-see matchups on Peacock this season
The NBA is full of fun storylines this season. Will the Oklahoma City Thunder repeat? Who will win the Eastern Conference now that the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers are severely depleted due to injuries to their best players? How good will the Los Angeles Lakers actually be? So on and so forth.
Luckily for me and every other NBA fan out there, the NBA on Peacock schedule features a smorgasbord of compelling matchups throughout the 2025–2026 season. From the jump, the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors play on opening night. Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Luka Doncic. Need I say more?
OK, fine, I’ll say more. I’m very interested in the November 17 game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers. That matchup features lots of star power from teams that have legit shots to make the Eastern Conference Finals this year. Then, there’s the January 20 matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. Really, you should take any chance to see Victor Wembanyama. But the Rockets are young, exciting, and on the rise.
For those who like history, the Lakers and Celtics face off on February 22, 2026. You can bet I’ll be glued to my TV for that.
Check out the full schedule below. And remember: Games airing on NBC will be available in your local market whether you have cable, satellite, a live TV streaming service, or an over-the-air antenna.

Meet the NBA on Peacock team
I firmly believe watching NBA games on Peacock—or NBC for that matter—will be entertaining and informative.
The main broadcasting team will feature former Lakers point guard Derek Fisher, former NBA veteran Austin Rivers, former Boston Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine, former No. 1 pick Brad Daugherty, and former NBA and international player Robbie Hummel. This lineup offers a mix of fiery personality (Scalabrine) and measured, smart basketball IQ (Fisher and Rivers).
You also have Mike Tirico as the lead play-by-play voice for big games. He’ll be joined by a rotating team of other great announcers, including Noah Eagle, Terry Gannon, and Michael Grady. I’m confident that NBA fans will be in great hands, and newer fans will learn a lot from this cast of characters.
Six more talented names have joined the NBA on NBC and Peacock!

A closer look at Peacock’s NBA experience
Here’s what I’m most interested in when it comes to Peacock’s NBA presentation. On Mondays, the coverage will include what the streamer is calling “On the Bench” analysis. That means someone will be sitting on each team’s sideline, courtside, giving fans the closest perspective to the games than ever before. These analysts will even be in the pregame locker rooms of their respective teams.
This kind of stuff is fascinating, and also confusing. We already have sideline reporters who listen in on huddles and report on injuries. Do those on-the-bench people replace sideline reporters or not? How much insight will fans really get from this? As a former sports journalist, I know players don’t really love how much access reporters have to them. It could be great, or a disaster. All the more reason to tune in, if you ask me.
Other sports on Peacock
Peacock isn’t just for the NBA aficionados out there. The platform actually offers a pretty solid suite of live sports.
Arguably, the most popular of those offerings is Sunday Night Football. NFL fans have been familiar with this for decades. But in recent years, Peacock has streamed all SNF games and select NFL exclusives. Adding the NBA gives fans a place year-round to watch a major sport on Sundays.
There used to be WWE Premium Live Events on Peacock, but those recently moved to ESPN in a new deal. Still, Peacock will stream four WWE main events every year on Saturdays. Other WWE content will leave Peacock in the next few months.
These offerings feel limited in scope, but I think there’s plenty of volume here to satisfy many sports fans who look to Peacock for live programming. And don’t forget that Peacock carries the Olympics, plus select Premier League matches and PGA Tour events.
