How To Watch the 2025 Sports Equinox on Oct. 27

The Sports Equinox is the ultimate day on the sports calendar. For fans who love sports, here’s everything you need to know about watching every game this Monday.

There are very few days per year that make me feel like I have to stop what I’m doing, plop on my recliner, and watch sports until my eyes glaze over. Christmas Day, Thanksgiving, and Martin Luther King Day are three that come to mind immediately.

But those pale in comparison to the Sports Equinox. This year, on Monday, October 27, games from five major sports leagues—NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and MLS—will air throughout the evening, many at the same time. It’s awesome.

Stick with me to learn which games will air on TV and how to watch and stream as many as humanly possible.

What is the Sports Equinox?

The Sports Equinox is like Christmas morning for sports fans. It’s a day when all four major leagues—and even some others—have games on the same day.

The occurrence is considered rare, though it’s happened at least once each year for the past several years. The most recent one was on October 28, 2024, and featured 21 games from the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB.

I was even surprised to find that sports betting sites have pages dedicated to odds for games just on that day.

Did you know? The 2025 Sports Equinox will be the 32nd all-time occurrence of the unofficial holiday.

Sports Equinox 2025 TV Schedule

In 2025, there are 15 games spread across the four major leagues for the Sports Equniox. I included two MLS playoff games airing that day, bringing the total to 17 games.

The games that jump out to me as the most exciting right off the bat are Game 3 of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays, and the Monday Night Football matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Commanders.

Best TV plans for watching the 2025 Sports Equinox

If you wanna get the most out of the Sports Equinox in any year, there’s just no way to sugarcoat it. You need a TV or streaming service that offers some type of multiview feature. DIRECTV and YouTube TV are the best in the market right now from that standpoint.

I’ll break down each service below and discuss a few reasons why I like them in general.

DIRECTV ($89.99–$169.99/mo.)

DIRECTV has two multiview options centered around sports channels: Sports Mix and League Sports Mix. In some markets, there is a Locals Mix option with channels like ABC, NBC, and FOX. I also really like the Sunday Sports Mix that’s available for select customers, depending on their plan. But that won’t help you on October 27, which is a Monday.

For 2025’s Sports Equinox, DIRECTV gets you very good coverage with their preselected multiviews and wide access to regional sports networks.

It should be noted that all of this also applies to those who want the streaming version of DIRECTV. And, Stream with DIRECTV offers unlimited cloud DVR.

YouTube TV ($82.99/mo.)

YouTube TV is one of the best live TV streaming services out there, and it’s not because Google owns it. It’s because its multiview is customizable, if currently limited. You can choose from FS1, ESPN, ESPN2, FOX, and a couple of other sports channels to create your multiview experience.

This enhanced multiview feature just launched in mid-2025, so there’s room for it to grow. I, for one, am looking forward to what it can do in the near future. And if you’re for real about watching as many games as possible, YouTube TV has unlimited DVR storage.

Pro tip: Following out-of-market action during the Sports Equinox? You’ll need NBA League Pass for the NBA games and ESPN Select (or NHL Center Ice) for the NHL matchups.
